  1. Paul, I am replacing my system, the rear and side cameras and monitor. I'm going with a split screen quad 10 inch monitor. My side view cameras are mounted inside the mirrors, they are not exterior hanging below the mirror. I have no desire to keep or replace them. I will go with new surface mounted side cameras. I have the old Sony camera in the rear which is going in the garbage along with the current monitor in the dash. My camera selector switch died and the boys in Coburg say it is no longer available. So, I need two side view cameras and a rear view and the where-with-all to re-use the 6 pin connector wiring on the old rear Sony camera. I can splice onto the existing wiring, that's no problem, if that will work. If you can help me with that, great, I'd rather give the money to you. I'm hoping to be able to mount the new rear camera in the same factory housing as the Sony. Trouble is I have no idea yet how to affix the housing to the rear cap. Someone at some time had gone in a fiddled around with something and the housing was held in place with silicone. The mounting hardware can not be accessed from the outside. Not sure if I can get to the rear cap from the inside the coach through the wardrobe closet. By the way, do you drive with that monitor sitting where it is on the dash? I'm in the process of trying to get a monitor to fit somehow without obstructing my view while driving. Thanks in advance for any help. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  2. Thanks guys. We all seem to be on the same page. I have ordered/recv'd those usb/12 vdc ports, 4 each. Haven't pulled the trigger on the new monitor/camera yet. Currently making a cardboard mockup to get the approval from my co-pilot and DW. The profile of the monitor has me stumped for the moment, like Scotty said, low enough to see over, but up enough to see the guages. Thanks. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  3. I'm going through something similar. Someone had gone in a spliced, really a hatchet job with black tape, and cheap black tape at that at both ends. 6 pin connector at camera, which I am looking to replace with something better. Same with monitor, current one is junk. Hoping with the use of adaptors to use the current cable from rear to a new monitor. Hard to figure out what exactly happened at the dash end, splicing and black tape. I will be looking more closely at it soon once I find a new camera/monitor that I want to install. Willing to listen to any ideas on new camera/monitor, but would like to go with a 10 inch quad screen monitor. I don't like taking my eyes off the road for too many seconds to check my monitor. LOL. thanks, Woody 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  4. My rear view camera is not working most of the time, as soon as I start rolling. The current monitor is small and outdated. The factory 12 vdc, cigarette lighter style ports are too loose to be of any value, we put tooth picks along with our plugs to get them to maintain contact. So, a remodel is in order. Trouble is my dash does not have much real estate to work with. I had a Pioneer double din radio put in, that doesn't pick up any radio stations 99% of the time while in motion, so that can go away. My current monitor and radio are mounted in the dash one above the other. I want to install a 10 monitor, quad screen. At least two usb ports and two 12 vdc ports. The current location of my monitor is low and very hard to see, basically the monitor sucks. I'd like to make a small cabinet, for lack of a better word, to hold these add-ons that would sit on top of my dash. We also have a TPMS that needs a home as well and would be part of this cabinet. Would love to see some pics of how and where anyone has put a large monitor on top of their dash. Also, any recommendations on a new rear view camera/monitor? Looking at a FooKoo, 10 inch quad and four cameras. I don't need new cameras except for the rear view. I have removed the housing of the rear view camera and there is not much room in there, but something should be able to fit in there with IR for night vision. One other thing, I would like to use a wired camera/monitor. I have read where the wireless systems do not function well at highway speeds. Any truth to these rumors? Thanks, Woody 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  5. I can't swear to this but, we have not had a single mouse in spite of living in the woods where we catch mice all the time around the house. A grey squirrel had gotten in somehow, still haven't figured that one out, but the squirrel was kind enough to pee all over the place until I trapped him. We are guessing that since squirrels eat mice, the scent from the squirrel has kept the mice out. We have not had any creatures at all since. I know you can buy coyote scent, that might work. I'd be fine with a snake, the DW not so much. But what would the snake eat once it got all the mice? Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  6. Our story is very much the same. We didn't buy the coach to save money, that's for sure. I hate to fly commercial and I'm hoping I never have to fly that way again. TSA I don't need. I'll keep my belt and shoes on thank you. It may take me longer to get there, but I'll get there. Also, the DW can somehow manage to put half her wardrobe into a suitcase, which I then have to lug around and up stairs at hotels, no more of that. Money, yeah, it cost a lot of money. Fortunately we are both retired and I'd rather run out of money before I run out of life. When working I was around enough refinery or chemical plant explosions to see just how fast your life can end. My last job prior to retiring I had the misfortune of being around a kid that wasn't paying attention in an operating refinery, 600 degree diesel under pressure. Long story short, my life could have ended that day in a fiery ball of flames. That was enough for me. I would like to go out on my own terms. So back to the coach. Our 10kw has less than 2,000 hours and it may need a rebuild, which is way early in my opinion. A new one may run around $15 large installed. Will I pay if I have to? Yeah. Trust me, my blood pressure soars when I see these labor rates, especially when half these kids don't know what they are working on. We have finally come to the conclusion that it pays to search out the small shops, the do excellent work for the most part. We are done with Cummin's, Speedco and the likes. I'm in the process of putting in a new monitor for the back and side cameras after the shop I took it to said it was just a loose connection, they didn't charge me, but as soon as I left the parking lot the camera quit working. I get home and take the dash apart, inside I see the mice have been busy. Now I'm thinking, what kind of person gets in behind the dash to fiddle with the camera monitor connections, and had to see the mice nest and droppings, and just leaves it? Gee, maybe a vacuum? I don't get it. I can live with spending the money on repairs since there is no end in sight. But the lack of workmanship is what burns me. Another good one. I have an air leak, again, on the road. I get a guy out to fix it. He shows up with no soap bottle and tells me he has to leave to go get one. No, I'll let you use mine. He has a buddy with him and I'm paying these two by the hour. So I'm watching and helping with getting them tools after they crawl under. So we air up and there are some bubbles still. So he wrenches a little tighter and we try again. Bubbles. I'm watching the clock thinking this has to stop. So again we check for bubbles. I can see some more bubbles, small, but there. He says he's got it. I see he doesn't but at this point I agree just to stop the clock and figure I'll just finish the job. This is the crap that gets to me. Would I give it up? Nah. Getting ready to roll out again, after a few minor repairs. LOL. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  7. Thanks, I'll have to come up with something. Trouble is I can't get my eyes on what exactly held it in place originally. I see no tabs or the like that might snap into something. Pretty sure the sun caused it to get warm and expand since it is a bigger gap in the afternoon than the morning. I got to get out at first light and see if I can see something from the outside. I guess for fun I could call REV. Lol. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  8. The vinyl(?) cover on the drivers side post, between the windshield and the drivers fixed window has come loose. It is the heat that causes it to expand and separate. I can't see how the the think snaps in and locks or what holds it in place. Has anyone removed/replaced one of these coverings? There are wire looms and what looks like the drain line from the front A/C that runs down in that channel that is covered by this piece. I just can't see how/what keeps it in place. Thanks. 9. I just got mine replaced with an original window. It was the big fixed dual pane. Mine was fogged to the point I couldn't see through it any longer. Was told a replacement was not available. Had a glass shop make a tempered single pane to replace. The original window had bee so tight a fit the glass company could not get it our without breaking it. The single pane they made was too small and began to fall out on us while we were on the road. We were in Alabama at the time, called the insurance company to get it fixed but would wait until we got back home to Washington since if they broke the new window we would be stuck while a new one was made. I silicone in the window as best as we could to keep it from falling out. Got back home and went to work with a local glass company to get a new window. Again, no replacement. Finally the glass company tracked down an original window on the east coast. And then we waited while the insurance company stalled us waiting for us to die I guess. After about two years I had enough of the delays. The first single pane replacement had cost about $1,000. The original was $4,000 installed. No wonder the insurance company was hoping we'd go away. Anyway, the new window is in and it's perfect. I did not get the name of the place where they found the window, only it was on the east coast. We have learned it takes some time, but most things can be fixed or replaced. We were told by many shops for many months that our roadside chassis multiplex could not be fixed. Well, it took some months, but the multiplex is working just fine now. When someone tells me now that something on the coach can't be replaced or fixed, I keep looking. We had a $250 deductible on our glass, thank God for that. I did find a shop near Coburg, OR that said they could make a new window for us, but after making it we would be stuck with if it even if it didn't fit. I didn't go any further with that shop since I didn't feel they knew much about the window. Either you have a pattern for that window, or you don't. But I wasn't going to pay for the window, plus shipping if it wasn't correct and the insurance company wasn't going down that road as well. Worked out in the end, two years later. 10. My Dynasty doesn't look like some of your camera installations. The Amazon ZEROXCLUB wired camera looks like it would work, but I'm not sure how it would mount. I haven't had a chance to get up close and really take mine apart, it's snowing today, again, and cold. C'mon global warming. Hope to get to it soon though. The mounting stud on the rear view camera is what has me confused. Not sure, until I can take my housing apart, how all that will work or if I will have to make some sort of bracket. For those that have installed one of these, did you have to make a bracket for it? Thanks. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  11. My rear view is on all the time except for when using the turn signals. I heard Voyager is a good camera. Nice to know there are options and adapters. I thought there should be. Thanks. Woody Miller
  12. Has anyone replaced their rear view, back up camera and if so were you able to use the old cable? Was an adapter required? I want to replace my junk back up camera with something better. RV shop said the original cable will not match up to any of the newer cameras. Thanks, Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  13. Thanks, I was hoping Monaco had provided a hose listing at some point. Oh well. None of my hoses are leaking, today, that'll probably change tomorrow now that I've said that. I had to use a look and see with Napa on my IH DT466 bottom hose. Someone mentioned about the upper hose and the rest straight. But as luck would have in there is a bottom hose with an elbow. I always seem to collapse those, even with the spring inside. After fighting with the bottom hose on that 466 for hours I'm not looking forward to anymore short elbowed hoses. But I want to replace all the radiator hoses prior to our next trip so I'll crawl under and warn the women and children they should plug their ears. I will post any part numbers as I go here. I have the ISM500 RR10R(?) 10 bag, side radiator.
  14. I was born and raised in CA. Today's CA has nothing in common with when I grew up there. I left over 15 years ago and would never move back. There is also a bill working it's way through that would tax snow birders as residents for the purpose of paying CA state income taxes. The state has two main occupants, the very wealthy who shelter their incomes and those that service the wealthy who pay very little in taxes since they don't make much money. The state is constantly on the hunt for more money. My tags for my Dynasty where I live are a little over $100 per year. Also have no state income tax. In CA I can't even imagine what the tabs would cost. It's too bad y'all couldn't have seen the state 40 or 50 years ago. Due to regulations and fees the cost of putting in RV parks is impossible. Very few affordable parks for larger class A's. There is a very nice park along a river near the Oregon border that is somewhat reasonable and it's in a very nice part of the state. It's just off I-5 past Yreka but before the border. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  15. I apologize in advance, I can't find the files to check to see if what I'm looking for might be there. Anyway, I want to replace the hoses on my 09 Dynasty ISM 500. They are not leaking, just want to take care of some simple stuff before the next 15,000 mile trip. Does anyone know the hoses I need, or where to find the files that may have that information? thanks, Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV, ISM 500
  16. I used Speedco once and will never go back, even if they offered free oil changes. They destroyed my generator filter getting off, then told me they didn't have a replacement. They twisted the wires on the water sensor on my fuel filter to the point that it shorted out and that cost me some money since the problem did not show up until I was in another state. And they are not cheap at all. I can't say anything good about the Cummins Coach Care also. I do the changes myself or go to independent shops on the road. Finding good RELIABLE service is getting harder and harder to find. But so far these little mom and pop truck repair shops have done a great job for me. Sorry to trash these national chains, but they need to do better for the money they get.
  17. We hardly use the electric at all, 95% on diesel. There should not be any smoke or smell if it's running right. I saw a little puff of white smoke once at start up. Otherwise we never smell it, and I can assure you my DW would be able to smell it.
  18. Thanks to everyone. We might not make into Canada, but we're going anyway. So much to see in this country and so little time.
  19. Heading for Niagara Falls in Sept. I believe Canada is shut off to cross, where is the best place to park for a few days? Best viewing area? Not sure if this is the correct place on the forum to ask this question. thanks, Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  20. Cummin's should know what they're doing, but they may sub it out. As others said make sure all connections to the batteries are completely and physically removed. Takes a good eye, I kept seeing a led on in the FRB after disconnecting the batteries, but there were a couple small wires, 12ga, way in the back hiding. Welders don't like lugging the cables any further than they have to, you might want to help the guy get his ground lead next to the work.
  21. We have the air force. No problems, as I recall, there is a check valve that keeps your coach air system from losing air if the toad has a problem. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  22. Thanks Frank, good point. I know that the factory set a code that many folks are aware of and could use it to gain entry, if I understand it correctly. We always use the deadbolt when away for any length of time.
  23. Regarding a year range to avoid the regen and DEF, our 2009 does not have the DPF or DEF. It is an ISM500. 100k miles on it now. I think we paid a little too much, but, the floorplan was perfect. It had all of my must haves. The Co-pilot is thrilled to death with it. So we flew to Texas and bought it. We have no intention of selling. Didn't buy it as an investment, it's a poor investment. Time is something you can not buy or get back once it's gone. We don't plan on living full time in it, unless all hell breaks loose. It's our escape from the nasty white stuff in the winter. Many might ask "how can you afford it or afford the fuel?". Our response is "how can we not?". If you find the right coach, buy it and enjoy it. You or the coach might not be around next year. Like I said, we might have paid too much and could have continued to shop, but we've put 40k miles on in the last couple of years and love it. No regrets. Funny thing was it might have been a fair price, the bank didn't want to see it first or have any questions about it. My one and only concern is the Kongsberg chassis multiplex. If that goes out we will lose our coach, but as long as it's working, we're going.
  24. I have the Winegard traveler. And Dish. We have a the hopper, I bought it, that stays in the coach. I was told that the outside stand alone will not work with my tuner, I would need a separate tuner. I only pay for the Dish when on the road, otherwise there is no charge until I call and activate. There have been several places we could not get out with the roof mounted Dish. Is it true that I can't connect the little remote potable antennas to my hopper 3? Dish might have been trying to sell me something I didn't need. No complaints with Dish so far, we have it in our sticks and bricks as well. We put Roku TV's in the bedroom and the salon area to stream it we can get a good wifi or cell signal. Also, we use a Cradlepoint IBR 600 cell/router/wifi/hotspot and it works great, if you have a cell signal. Can hook up to 50 devices to it. We also have the Spark, which shuts down every so often since it has a GPS in it. Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
  25. My side view cameras are in the smaller convex mirror, not on the arm. There is a regular flat mirror and right below is the smaller convex mirror. I'd like to replace the one in the mirror, if possible, if not then a surface mount would work also with a little machine work. How about a decent replacement for the rear view camera, any suggestions there? Thanks, Woody Miller 09 Dynasty Regal IV
