the magnet and the retractable stair
Trinidaddave replied to terboggs's topic in Body, Awning, Roof, Slides, & Steps
I'm not sure about resetting with a magnetic, but my stairs have been acting up lately. My issues may be alignment with the magnetic in door frame. Mine works more reliable if I close the door with a little force, but short of slamming the door. -
oil sump heater
Trinidaddave replied to Les Hurdle's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
Correct, mine is the block heater, I must have missed the part about oil heater which I do no have. -
oil sump heater

On my 05 Safari Gazelle the switch must be on, since I just plug it in when I want to use it while connected to shore power or generator. -
Can not find 12v fuses for Norcold Refridgerator
Trinidaddave replied to 1nolaguy's topic in Electrical Systems
Loel, did you check each wire to a known good ground with your meter? Also did you check each wire with ohm meter to ground? There is a possibility your ground is missing and 12 volts is available searching for the ground. -

Milwaukee 18v Tire Inflator
Trinidaddave replied to bklaes's topic in Chassis, Handling, Tires & Brakes
Yes, I use the Milwaukee 18v air compressor. It takes a little time, but it’s easier to use than my Viair 450P. It takes less time for setup. I only keep my tires at 105, but it works great. -
Hwy 299 from Redding, CA to Eureka, Ca
Trinidaddave replied to Knight 40 PLQ's topic in General Motorhome Discussion
I live on the north coast, but only used that road once with my 38’ Safari Gazelle towing my pickup. The roads are still narrow, but they have added more turnouts over the years. I prefer going North or South on Highway 101. If you take it slow and easy, take your time it’s a beautiful drive, but this upsets others. -
My screen like others on this forum had the brightness knob moved to a dark screen. Have you checked the knob? Has someone bumped it during cleaning?

Oil Change.
Trinidaddave replied to Rick A's topic in Engine, Transmission, Engine Cooling, & Hydraulics
You could always pull an oil sample and send in for analysis with someone like Blackstone Laboratories. You can get a pump from them and pull the oil through the dipstick. They will track your samples and provide recommendations on future changes. -
Rear Slides don't work for a time after travel
Trinidaddave replied to JohnC3's topic in Body, Awning, Roof, Slides, & Steps
I believe I resolved my slide issues. I removed all the relays checked them with a meter, they all checked the same. I removed and reseated the connectors on the slide out control board. Everything seems to operate normally. hopefully you issue is as easy to resolve as mine. I will keep you posted if I have any other issues. -
Rear Slides don't work for a time after travel
Trinidaddave replied to JohnC3's topic in Body, Awning, Roof, Slides, & Steps
My slides began acting up on my 05 Safari Gazelle when returning from my last trip. I have quad slides with Power Gear electric drive motors. My large living room slide is the only one that works when I push the out button, but it will not come in, all other slides seem dead. I did connect my rear slide opposite the bed directly to the battery so we could unload the coach from our trip. My controller is obsolete but it doesn’t show any signs of damage. It is an analog device with six mechanical relays that route the circuits to each slide out. I isolated the ignition lockout relay yesterday with no change in operation. Today I plan to begin tracing each circuit through the coach until I find the component that is common to all the slides. I will follow up on this post if I find the resolution. -

Both AC Units won't keep running.
Trinidaddave replied to rschley's topic in AC, Heating, and Cooling
You first need to determine what is shutting them down. 1. Are the receiving proper voltage? You will need a meter for that. 2. Are the compressors drawing too much current? Resulting in internal overload opening. This will require an ammeter. 3. Are the compressors overheating? Maybe the units require service and cleaning. 4. It’s not normal for both units to be wired to line #1. 5. don’t rule out the thermostat just because it’s set at 60. It could be a component in the thermostat overheating. it’s really hard to guess without doing some checks. -
Cruise control issue

? Is your exhaust break switch on? My cruise control will not set if the exhaust break switch is on. -
HVAC trips DC Control Fuse - 2009 Camelot
Trinidaddave replied to jfasano88's topic in AC, Heating, and Cooling
I would disconnect the power in the control panel inside the unit. Your air conditioning unit may need to be serviced! If the unit is dirty, motors need oil or airflow is restricted it could be why your unit is drawing the high current and blowing the fuse. Again you should have a clamp on ammeter to check the current of the compressor and fan motor. If you are able to open the unit these meters will tell you a lot about your equipment. good luck! -
HVAC trips DC Control Fuse - 2009 Camelot
Trinidaddave replied to jfasano88's topic in AC, Heating, and Cooling
The purpose of the fuse is to protect your wires. You will need to find the reason that circuit is drawing over 10 amps. Do you have a meter, every owner should carry a meter even if they don’t know how to use it. In time you will become comfortable using it. You can start your troubleshooting by pulling the fuse and searching for the short using the resistance setting (ohm) scale on all the devices you mentioned on that circuit. You can disconnect all the items you said were loosing power when fuse blows and replace the fuse, then reconnect them one at a time. This will isolate your trouble to a specific component. This may take some time, but it’s the only way to find the short unless you can just physically look at the wires and find something obvious. -

Power Steering/Hydraulic Reservoir Filters
Trinidaddave replied to NAMVET77's topic in Chassis, Handling, Tires & Brakes
Thanks everyone, I may try ordering the dip stick suggested. It is cheap enough to try. I attached a picture of mine, it is missing the metal washer that is pressed on the end that allows the rubber portion to tighten and seal the top. thanks for everyone’s help. -
Power Steering/Hydraulic Reservoir Filters
Trinidaddave replied to NAMVET77's topic in Chassis, Handling, Tires & Brakes
My Nelson hydraulic filter tank has Wix 557196 elements. I am looking for a source for the Nelson tank. I need a replacement dip stick. Since Cummins purchased the Nelson line I haven't found a good source for replacement parts.
