  1. Not a bad idea at all and seems easy enough w the reflective covering. Looking at that pic makes me wonder if I should have air flow holes on the back passenger side of my Icon cover for better airflow. With just the holes in the base, it seems like it could be restricted. But I don't think I'm ready to drill some holes. Then I'd worry about water intrusion too.
  2. Thanks all for the help. I ended up cleaning it up well w electronics cleaner and it isnworking better. It has rust on the backside of the controls so I think it's likely more than the buttons. @windsorbill06 when you installed a Maxxair, did you use the existing wiring? Did you do anything with the wall switch? Thanks, Steven
  3. In my 06 Diplomat, I have 2 Fantastic Vent Roof vents with pushbutton wired remotes on the wall. The fans seem to work well, but the remotes not so much. The buttons are finicky and often not responsive. The living room vent has no cover and I want to cover it, but have looked at replacing the whole vent. I have not had luck finding replacement remotes for them and wonder my options. I hate to leave the old remote or a hole there. Any newer fans that utilize the existing wires for plug and play? Any sources for replacement remotes? Thanks.
  4. @Frank McElroy. I did see big changes and I got back up there last night and added the double foam on the left side of the pic. Today I had to work and wasn't there to check progress. However this am I had Temps of 36 to 39 at 2 registers where I was seeing 52 to 55. Also, today's Temps were cooler this am affecting it, I'm sure.
  5. @Scotty Hutto how is the engine hatch removed for access? Looks great!!!
  6. My neighbor came by today and asked me if I was getting shocked any in or around my coach. His wife and kid have been getting shocked coming into their 5th wheel. Not a hard shock, but enough to get their attention. The manager put his black lead in the ground and the red on a screw on the power pedestal and read 17 volts. He unplugged his 5vr and ran off genny and no shock. I got 14 Volts checking his and 9 volts checking mine. I also got 9 volts having the black in the ground and the red on my leveler. These were all measured in AC. Supposedly an electrician will be coming out to check. Per neighbor, it's worse after rains. This is new to me. Thoughts? Bad wire in the ground somewhere?
  7. I ran into this issue w my bedroom slide and had to order from Steele Rubber and AP products. Steele did not have a long enough wiper blade, but AP did. If I remember right, I used 2" from Steele for the sides and 2 and 1/2" from AP for the top. I bonded the 2 together at the corners with a 3M rubber bonding adhesive and so far so good. https://www.approducts.net/ Here's a pic.
  8. Frank, nice eyes you have. I did it a little different by the control box. I added foam behind the box where the gap goes down the box. See blue arrow on your pic. The red arrow is where yours is, and I felt adding it here would lead to easier box access (capacitors..). For the other place, I didn't see the thick padding you had there (bad glare on phone on roof) and I was wondering since this is exhaust air, if it's exiting Roadside and intake is sealed, would it be ok? I'll likely add that foam though. I used most of it up earlier.
  9. Just an update. So far so good. Since the remote sensor move, I have had only 2 known short cycle times vs tons! I'm gonna leave it here for a bit and see how it continues to go.
  10. As expected, no foam gasket was on mine. I only ordered enough for the front AC but here are some before and after pics. Thanks all. I hope this helps.
  11. Thanks. I ordered the foam tape from Amazon mentioned above. Hopefully I'll be able to add it Wednesday.
  12. Thanks all and the pics help tremendously. I've ordered what @millionroy suggested from Amazon and can't wait to see how it helps.
  13. I have not, I looked under the manufacturer's site yet, but that's a good idea. I have the same as Scotty's and since he has tape, I suspect I should have it too. Definitely going to look into this. 100 degree, 100% Alabama humidity is about here. An RV repair place replaced my covers after the damaged the originals. There are no gaskets in the new covers.
  14. I have the below pic from the other day and I am not recalling a gasket anywhere. Also, my covers were replaced 3 years ago due to a RV service company cracking the original ones. I don't know what they looked like under the covers but I know there are no gaskets attached to the covers. This pic is with installation of the Soft start. Any sources for the gaskets? Thanks.
  15. I'm gonna have to go back up and take the covers off and see what I see. I have 2 Dometic Duotherm heat pumps. I'm guessing the foam should be similar? I have a 630035.331 and looking at the diagrams, I do not see a foam gasket. Dometic_Penguin_AC-HP_Parts_List.pdf Dometic_Penguin_AC-HP_Parts_List.pdf
  16. How is the sealing foam supposed to look? What did it look like before? This is the first I've heard of this and am intrigued. Thanks, Steven
  17. Just to chime in about poor insulation. I'm currently replacing my radio speakers and stuck my hand in the holes. There's visible insulation, but reaching further there is no insulation above the ceiling ductwork. That's not helping...
  18. Ok. It's been a couple of days so time will tell more, but so far so good. The PO had cut a hole in the side of the wardrobe for speakers. Currently my sensor is coming out of that hole, but is behind the art I placed to cover the hole and no more short cycling. It runs as I feel it should. I did have to lower the tstat to 72 to keep it how I like it. I'm gonna leave it here a while and see how it goes. Outside Temps have reached 90 w high humidity, but I haven't been in the coach much in the day (working).
  19. Typically I keep it is set to 74 or 73. But after moving it, I had to drop to 72 for more comfort. The morning sun is hitting the wall not far from the sensor and there is a 5 deg difference bw that wall and where the sensor is.
  20. I think what is happening is a cycle of events. The hole the sensors wire comes through allows heat to escape right on the sensor thus turning on the AC. AC kicks on, cools air, fan blows heat away from the sensor thus satisfying the sensor and shutting off the AC, then heat is escaping onto the sensor thus repeating itself. When it kept kicking on every 2 to 4 minutes last night while the front ac stayed off, that got me looking more into the sensor. I had the Wally literally over that hole/sensor. When I moved the Wally to the back of the cabinet, that hole stayed a lot lower than 80. However, there are no vents for heat to escape that cabinet. It's not hot in it except right at the Wally. I may add some holes at the top of the door to allow heat out (later).
  21. I'm thinking @Ivylog is onto something. Last night I took my infrared thermometer and pointed it at the front remote sensor and got 72 degrees. Went to rear and got 80 degrees. Started checking Temps around the BR and found it was consistently high there at the sensor. So I opened the cabinet behind the TV and realized I had my Dish Wally sitting right where that sensor exits (that cabinet has a false floor and the wire is under the floor). I moved the Wally to the back of the cabinet and pulled the sensor out some and had a better night. Today I removed the false floor and relocated (temporarily) the sensor to see how things go. So far it's better, but it's early. That makes a lot of sense to me. The temp reading right under the Wally was 85 degrees. I'm going to keep playing with different areas to find a good spot not affected by vents, windows, electronics, etc... I'll keep yall posted.
  22. Well, maybe I spoke too soon. While it was better this am before work, now that I've been back it has run 2 cycles that lasted about 3 sec each and several cycles that lasted approx 2 min and keeps cutting on after only 2 to 4 minutes of rest in between. Back to the drawing board.
  23. Hey Richard, I am attaching a pic. The sensor is under the TV and next to the speaker bar. This was happening way before the speaker was installed. I have no vents blowing on it.
  24. Just a quick update. Last night I pulled the 2 remote sensors (why are there 2? What do both do?) Further out of the cabinet and noted more short cycling. So, when I went to bed I pushed them further in and noted no short cycling. It's too early to tell if this will be the solution or not, but there's hope. See pic. @Scotty Hutto
  25. It did clean up nicely. I repainted it with bedliner spray paint.
