  1. Scotty, you don't have an aluminum roof? I thought that generation Monaco, HR had aluminum. Gary 05 AMB DST
  2. Earnel, this is what I did to make access to the bay easier. I got tired of disconnecting and removing the panel. I also got a little more storage space in the upper righthand corner. My house reel was leaking too. It is fastened to the "ceiling" and I haven't tried to remove it as it looks like a too tough of a job. Maybe someday. I also moved my water pump up front for access. It was too far back in the corner when maintenance was needed. My first photo installation. Gary 05 AMB DST
  3. JD, Did you do the entire trim piece? The self drilling, pro name Tek, screws has an actual drill bit on the end. Hardware store should have them. I used a 1" length Tek. Remember I'm a retired "Union" sheet metal worker. Gary 05 AMB DST
  4. JD, My MH also has the aluminum roof. As I was doing the recaulking along the top of the roof trim piece, I noticed that there were spots that had pulled away. I pulled off the rubber(?) trim that covered whatever was holding the trim piece on. I had screws in every 2-3 holes of the trim piece, some were broke. What I did on the roof line trim was the same that I did on the lower side trim piece. I replaced existing screws and put screws in every hole on the trim piece. If the existing screw broke, I would put a new one in next to it. The screws I used were size 10-16x1" SS self-drilling (Tek) screws, 5/16 hex head. I had to grind down the diameter of the 5/16 hex head driver bit to fit in the trim piece slot. Couldn't replace the trim piece screws that are under the slide topper, but reached in as far as I could. I couldn't believe they used pop rivets in the beginning years of assembly to hold on the trim pieces. Gary 05 AMB DST
  5. Tom, my 05 Ambassador was the first year that used the 8 air bag platform. It was carried over from the 04 Endeavor, My chassis is the same as an Endeavor but with the 333hp ISC. I was told this by the manager of the Roadmaster frame assembly plant in Elkhart. Gary 05 AMB DST
  6. Ron, I think that the transmission has an electronic way to check the fluid level using the push buttons. Check your owner's manual. Gary 05 AMB DST
  7. I needed a 20a outlet near the driver's seat for my portable A/C unit that assists the rooftop A/C. I ran flexible conduit down the passenger side of the basement from the engine heater outlet, which was outside the radiator on top, and where I store my rooftop ladder extension. Put an outlet in each basement bay. I put a Bell and Howell Ultrasonic pest repeller in each bay. Have two in the living space, front and back and one hangs in the engine bay to keep the squirrels out. Knocking on wood, it has worked good for years. That heater outlet circuit is just waiting to be used. Gary 05 AMB DST
  8. Sorry David, but there is a reason that is as close to a 100% opening as possible. If Monaco could get by with a smaller opening it would be there. Gary 05 AMB DST
  9. Whatever gets though the screen will be caught by the air filter. I'd just leave it alone or take out every other bar for a balanced look. Gary 05 AMB DST
  10. A pin that holds one of the gears on the shaft may be broken and only one gear is working. Gary 05 AMB DST
  11. Tom, I feel I was lucky that I didn't buy an upper level motorhome when I bought mine new. Reading about the problems with DEF and multiplex on the site, I feel blessed. There is so many things that go wrong and I, personally, don't have the desire to head down that road at my age. I am glad I got a 40 footer with a bath and a half. Gary 05 AMB DST
  12. Like the song, "Is that a Chevy 69?" Is that an Unlimited 06? Gary 05 AMB DST
  13. I would think that the heater coil is the highest point in the cooling system. The shop probably never opened the temp switch to high and it prevented any coolant getting into the heater coil. Gary 05 AMB DST
  14. Les, do you know if the bubble is correct? Have you checked walls or floor with a level? 1/2" inch isn't much movement. Gary 05 AMB DST
  15. What is his age? That is important for a good life. Gary 05 AMB DST
  16. Bob, the adhesive for the mirror mounting plate may be coming apart. My convex mirror fell off. Fortunately I had stopped to check why it was moving and when I touched it, it came off. Gary 05 AMB DST
  17. Jeff, your toilet in the back is a macerator toilet. It chews up almost anything you flush. It liquifies waste because the waste line is basicly flat and stuff won't flow forward to the black water tank. The only thing that will clog it is a dryer sheet and a unflushable handy wipe. Someone flushed a dryer sheet, Hmmm. Had to remove the toilet and disassemble the macerator. Be careful, I think that a new one is over $2000. A new toilet seat was $130 a couple years ago. 18. Steve, there should be two access hatches. The other one is in the closet floor. That hatch was probably covered over in a new floor project by the previous owner. Gary 05 AMB DST
  19. Rodger, In the last driver's side compartment, that may be the power cord, there probably is a metal patch on the ceiling. That patch, when removed, should give you access the shower trap. The drain pipe runs on top of the floor to prevent cold weather access. The bad news is the drain pipe is glued all the way to the gray water tank. Try getting a snake that is long enough to reach the tank. The water and drainpipes run along the wall to the bedroom, then to the cabinet next to the fridge then down to the gray tank. 20. Loel, I was in Nova Scotia when my floor went, around 2010. I put 2x4's under the 4 sides of the floor (overkill) and used 3/4" plywood that I had. I had the same bathroom set-up that you do. Holiday Rambler called it the DST floor plan. I raised the washer floor enough to put a piece of plywood on top of the toilet with 4 legs to hold it. This piece was at the same level as the washer floor and it made it easy to slide the washer out of its cubicle. Then it was easier to get the washer out of the way to access the back wall. Poor (cheap) structurer engineering. Gary 05 AMB DST
