  1. Sorry to hear of your troubles! good luck with your sale and by all means, Merry Christmas!
  2. ok-rver, I just reread your original post, I’m thinking the moisture in your air tanks was due to lack of maintenance to the desiccant and not draining the air tanks on a regular basis. Sounds like your on the right track now. I’m betting that the dryer has never been completely rebuilt unless you know better, I always assume the worst and proceed accordingly, for what it costs to do it at your will vs somewhere undesirable, it just makes sense, to me, to do it all at the same time! Then your not driving down the road at below freezing temps wondering if problem's will a rise! As far as the length of time the dryer purges, it’s just a quick “shhhh”, it’s just enough to purge the desiccant, it shouldn’t linger and it should be crisp and clean sounding, if that makes sense! It’s not that costly to rebuild the purge valve, all you need is a inner snap ring pliers and a pick of sorts to get all of the parts out of up there, If you proceed with the purge valve rebuild make sure you get all of the old parts out and replace with the new ones! Unfortunately my brain just works that way, service it all and service it completely!
  3. Hey Chris, Are your tanks still available? Thanks!
  4. If your not running your coach every week for 8 hrs a day I wouldn’t worry about servicing the dryer yearly, the majority of folks are lucky if they put on 10 thousand miles a year, when I was trucking I’d put on close to 13 thousand miles a month and I serviced my dryer yearly, if you service the dryer on your coach every three years you should be just fine. One other thing I always looked after was air leaks, obviously the less air you have to replace the less air the dryer has to process! JMO
  5. Adding alcohol to the newer air systems is not recommended because of all of the ABS systems to my understanding. Years ago it was acceptable, the modern day air dryer if working correctly and maintained should be sufficient. I was in the trucking industry for myself for just over 20 years ( long haul from Mn to California) I always used OE air dryer parts and replacement desiccant cartridges/filters, ya you can save a bit of money buying aftermarket parts, some systems on my equipment I won’t go that route, air systems was one of them, jmo. You are going to want to make sure that the heating element is working correctly and the purge valve is working correctly and smoothly, not sure what air dryer you have, I’m assuming it’s a Wabco by the year of your coach, here’s a link to everything you probably need to know about the air dryer you have and the different variations of it. There’s a lot of info in this reading and it might take a bit of reading to understand what dryer you have so take some time and educate yourself, it sounds like you are interested it maintaining your coach yourself! https://www.wabco-customercentre.com/catalog/docs/mm34_web.pdf
  6. I’m curious to know if it was an independent repair shop or a Cummins authorized shop, don’t need to know the name, also curious where this was, town, state…. If it’s not to much to share.
  7. The purge valve on the bottom of the air dryer.
  8. Two other items to check in the system if you haven’t is the air tank remote drain valves, the one in the back of my coach leaks pretty good, and the remote air chuck for airing up the coach. There might be an air supply chuck somewhere on your coach also to check for leaks, mine is in the propane tank compartment. The unfortunate part is the previous owner/owners haven’t maintained the air dryer, (ie changed the desiccant cartridge) there’s nothing you can do to reverse the effects. As far as the leaking after the purge, read page 3 and 4 on the link I sent you to understand what might be happening also with the air flow after the purge, it might be a drying cycle depending upon what configuration of dryer you might have.
  9. Fwiw, it’s highly unlikely that you’re air drier fixed itself! We purchased a new to us 05 Dynasty in September, first thing I did was serviced the air dryer and replaced the purge valve and desiccant, after the rebuild it was crisp when it purged, if that makes sense, after the rebuild you can hear the difference! At least I could.
  10. I might have posted this before but I’ll post it again, it sounds like you may have to rebuild the purge valve, easy pezy! https://www.wabco-customercentre.com/catalog/docs/mm34_web.pdf
  11. Here is a place to start researching headlights, https://www.headlightsdepot.com/catalog/monaco
  12. Also found this for anyone looking for a complete air dryer assembly, very reasonable for new non after market! IMO https://www.finditparts.com/products/11751232/wabco-r955205?srcid=CHL01SCL010-Npla-Dmdt-Gusa-Svbr-Mmuu-K11751232-L565&srcid=CHL01SCL004&promo=CYBER15&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2LzJ5tS89AIV33FvBB2FwgFTEAQYBSABEgIudvD_BwE#description
  13. after trucking for myself to California from Minnesota for the better part of 20 years I always used OE parts on the air system fwiw! This may help, https://www.wabco-customercentre.com/catalog/docs/mm34_web.pdf
  14. One thing to always carry along is a connection fitting to totally bypass the air drier in an emergency.. Just connect the two big air lines and your back up and rolling! Jmo
  15. I’m sure everyone here has found this but I’ll post the link anyway. https://www.michelinb2b.com/wps/b2bcontent/PDF/RV_Tires_Brochure.pdf
  16. I see, I misunderstood what the op was looking for, I thought he said he had air leaks while the coach was parked not rolling down the road.
  17. What exactly is a “Brake Leak Down Test”?
  18. Has anyone thought about mounting it in with the generator?
  19. My only thought on why Monaco didn’t originally mount it in the fuel bay (diesel and propane) could have been in the unlikely event that the propane tank had some sort of leak and the compressor kicked in and caused a potential ignition point. I do realize that propane is heavier that air but one never knows all of the conditions that might cause a problem! Personally I think it should be mounted in the heated water bay with the Aqua Hot. I would think it could be easily made removable with a quick disconnect air coupling and a plug for the power supply. JMO
  20. Here’s a owner’s manual if you want one! https://www.monacocoach.com/resources/media/manuals/2001_Diplomat.pdf
