  1. Hi All It has been a long hard year for all of us due to many circumstances beyond our control, but things seem to be getting back to somewhat normal in most areas of the country. We were not able to hold a Gathering for 2021 because of those circumstances. The GOOD NEWS is that I have Tentatively Confirmed with the Tampa Florida Lazydays RV Resort the dates for the Bill D's Monacoers 2022 Gathering; The dates are February 15th, 2022 thru February 20th, 2022. The arrival date is the 15th and the departure date is the 20th. Lazydays is sending me the Gathering Contract and the Catering Contract to review and decide on the Catering for our evening meals. Anyone that may have suggestions about our evening meals contact me. Lazydays Catering has always provided us with excellent meals. The meals at the 2020 gathering were very good and I will do my best to put together another great menu for the 2022 Gathering. Any/all suggestions from "YOU" the Members would be appreciated. Once I have reviewed the Contracts and choose the Menu for the Gathering I can send the contract back to Lazydays. When they get the signed contracts back I will be able to confirm the all inclusive price for the Gathering for each coach. Lazydays is going to hold in Reserve 50 Sites for the Gathering with an additional 10 available if the 50 sites are sold out. All sites will be held until January 1st, 2022. LAZYDAYS IS NOT ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS AT THIS TIME. DO NOT CALL LAZYDAYS YET TO MAKE ANY RESERVATIONS, I WILL NOTIFY THE GROUP WHEN THEY START ACCEPTING RESERVATIONS. I just received the Site Contract and the Catering Contract Today and I will be reviewing them. I will start putting together the Seminar Schedule, any suggestions are welcomed. I am getting an early start on the 2022 Gathering so you all can mark your calendars and make your plans to attend. We need a great turnout next year.
  2. After reviewing all the 20 pages of posts on IRV2 and the two pages of posts on our group, I do not believe we will ever know what could have caused the failure of the OP's Tow bar. There has been a great deal of speculation and good information about how, why and when about the failure. I do not condone nor go along with the Idea that it was a Fault of Blue OX. There are probably thousands of Blue Ox Tow Bars in use today and when properly maintained and inspected have had no failures. The biggest factor when it comes to failures in any piece of equipment is the owner/operator and not the product or the manufacturer. In the IRV2 discussion it was brought up that Blue Ox recommends that any tow bar that they sell should be returned to them for inspection at least every two years or 10,000 to 15,000 miles so they can inspect and service the tow bar and its components. Blue Ox will pay for the shipping to and from and the owner only has to pay $150 for the service That is very inexpensive considering you are looking at around a GRAND to replace the tow bar. This inspection by Blue Ox give the professionals the opportunity to inspect and replace any worn parts and apply any updates or improvements that may have been developed since purchase. It also allows Blue Ox to get Worn Out or Obsolete or Unsafe Products off the market and give the owner the option to upgrade if necessary. After viewing all the posted pictures, it is some what obvious what might have attributed to the failure. The OP said he purchased the Avail 10K Tow Bar in 2015 and he personally did inspect the tow bar each time he used it, OK very good. His tow bar is of an old design that was updated with and approved design a few years later. If you look at the pictures the OP posted the two brackets that failed had a ninety degree bend on each bracket and then the bracket was welded on the end on the hitch. The two parts were weld to the hitch only on the two bends on the end of the hitch receptacle. The failure of the brackets was at the bends not the welds, which is the weakest point of the brackets. There is no gusset or flat plate welded to the brackets for reinforcement to prevent any side ways movement along the vertical bends. From the pictures you can clearly see that there is a lot of clearance between the brackets and the Hitch at the bolts and the brackets appear to be bent sideways and sheared vertically. this would indicate that there was a lot of movement left and right sideways before the brackets failed. The same Updated/New Avail 10K tow bar has the two brackets that are straight and extend along the side of the hitch receptacle and welded on all four edges of the bracket. There is no weak point in this design. Somewhere Blue Ox may have figured out that they may have an issue with the bent brackets and went to the newer design. Now here is pure Speculation on my part, but if The OP would have sent the Tow Bar into Blue OX for the recommended inspections and maintenance the impending failure would have been recognized or the outdated Hitch could have been replace with the newer updated stronger Hitch. I just do not condone blasting a Manufacturer when a part fails when the purchaser does not follow the manufactures recommended Maintenance and Inspections. When these failures occur, before you blame the part failure on the Manufacturer take a moment and look in the Mirror.
  3. Dennis, there is only a couple of correct ways to fix your problem; Method 1. The simple fix is to run you Gen Slide in and out all the way several times and hold the switch pressed for at least 30 seconds when you have it all the way out and again when you have it all the way in. A couple of times will not be enough, cycle it in and out several times. This method has been discussed on this group many times over the past 15 years and it does work most of the time. DO NOT EXCEED THE FIVE MINUTE RUN TIME ON THE MOTOR. Method 2. Remove the solenoid and clean or replace it. With the solenoid removed you can unscrew the tip with the O'Rings and clean it out. As Chuck B said in an earlier post Monaco used white Teflon Tape for the lines and the tape would brake off and get stuck in the solenoid valve. Gain access to the pump assembly and have someone press the switch to retract and extend the slides. The "Extend Solenoids" are installed in the manifold on the pump/reservoir side on the Pump Assembly and the "Retract Solenoids" are installed in the Manifold on the Motor Side opposite of each other. You will be able to identify the solenoids by the click and feel on the solenoid when the switch is pressed. If this fails to fix the problem you will have to replace the Solenoid. On the HWH hydraulic slide out system the slide out is locked in the "RETRACT POSITION" by pressure in the retract line. The amount of pressure is 3500psi and is the reason HWH suggests to keep the switched pressed for a few additional seconds after extending or retracting. If there is trash in the solenoid valve the pressure can bleed off causing the slide out to creep. Good luck!
  4. I would not even consider an Essex over your Signature! We looked at the NEMAR Essex when we were looking to Upgrade from our 05 Exec. We went and did the Newmar factory tour and I was quite disappointed with the quality of the build at the factory. We also went and did the Entegra Factory tour. I felt that the Entegra Cornerstone was a much better quality coach over the Newmar. Most of the components such as the fiberglass, wiring harnesses etc. are out sourced and not manufactured at the Factory by Newmar or Entegra. Unfortunately when comparing those two coaches to my 05 Exec the Exec was way ahead in quality, build and components. I would have been giving up to much if I were to trade my 05 Exec for either one of those coaches. This was back in 2016 and the Essex was near $900K retail and the Cornerstone was close to $800K and in my opinion both are way overpriced. I have several friends that have King Aires and Essex Coaches. They all have had their share of issues, Mostly Quality and horrible support. The several friends I know that have Entegras don't seem to have as many issue as those with the Newmar and the Entegra support is much better. Newmar is now owned by Winnebago. We went to the Foretravel Factory and after the tour the ih-45 was the only coach that I would consider as a replacement for my 05 Exec. After three and a half years of owning the ih-45 I can tell you it was one of the best decisions we made. Factory support is fantastic. The quality of the coach is excellent. We have had very few issues with the coach and several have been operator related. Your 04 Sig is still way ahead of most of the newer production coaches being built today. The Dynasty, Executive and Signature all had steel welded house frames welded to the chassis and they were built form the ground up. The Newmar and the Entegra are Aluminum structures riveted to the chassis. ForeTravel is also an all steel welded house frame with a truss roof instead of a flat roof and are built from the ground up. From 03 thru 06 the Exec and the Sig had all the best components on the market. The older Foretravels are also very well built and offer a lot of the components that your Sig has. If Monaco was still in business today and building the Signature the way they built it back in 03-07, the price point would more than likely exceed a Million Dollars. If you are serious about replacing your Sig, you should seriously look at the Foretravel. Do a little research and you will be surprised at what you find.
  5. Compared to other Fire Suppression Systems that are on the market the Firefight products are not expensive. The Systems installed in my coach are not to save the coach, but to give me that small envelope of precious time to get the occupants asses out of the coach safely. The Systems are not there for me to put the fire out, that is what insurance is for, Things are replaceable, LIVES are not.. I never really thought much about Fire Suppression in a coach until a good friend coming home from Alaska in his brand new Navigator had an engine fire. By the time he was able to stop the coach and get out it was only seconds because before he stopped the fire had already consumed most of the outside walls at the engine compartment and rushed forward engulfing the whole coach. He was able to save his wife and dog and did suffer some severe burns. after twenty minutes the only thing left of the coach was the chassis. I can probably give you a lot of reasons on "WHY Not to have a Fire Suppression System" installed in you couch, but that is a discussion for another day and none of them hold water! I have lost several friends, their loved ones and their pets to coach fires. a few mostly were Norcold associated fires at night while they were asleep. My only thought is, What is your family and loved ones worth. Hopefully, what you feel personally works for you and you never have a "I Wish I Shoulda, Coulda Have Moment". Like most Safety Products we spend our money on, hopefully we never have to use them.
  6. The issue you are having is Common to the 2003-2005 Exec and Signatures that were built in Coberg, WA. There were some units that were built that the crossbars that the AC's mounted on were not properly welded to the side wall and over time broke free and the roof sagged due to the weight of the AC unit. The problem was mostly common the the front AC unit and the drivers side. The only fix is to remove the headliner to access the crossbars, raise them to the proper position and re-weld them to the sidewall frames Or the alternative is to just live with it. There are many of them out there with this issue and most owners are unaware of it unless they experience the ponding and inspect further. The cost to repair it will be costly and the issue will not get any worse if left alone. Monaco new of the issue around 2006, but would only fix it if the coach was still under warranty and was discovered by the owner. Monaco did not issue any recalls o r SB to fix the problem.
  7. Gentlemen; If you go to our vendors section you will find Firefight Products.com. The company is owned by Jim Bounds. He has been a huge supporter of the Monacoers Group and is one of our presenters every year at the Gathering. He does an excellent presentation to our group at the Gatherings. He sells and installs Fire Suppression Systems and has been doing so for over 15 years. My 05 Monaco Exec was one of the first coaches that had his system installed and I have his systems installed in my ForeTravel. I have Installed his Foam Suppression System in my Engine compartment, Generator compartment and Battery Compartment. I also have his smaller Halogen Gas type Systems installed in all the compartments that have any electronics. These are all automatic deployed systems. Many of our members have installed his system in their coaches especially in the Not so Cold refrigerator compartment. The following is his Information; Fire Fight Products, llc. 6101 Anno Ave Orlando, FL 32809 Phone: 321-299-5707 fax 866-509-8961 firefightproducts@yahoo.com
  8. Well, I have done all of the above that is discussed in this thread and I hit on something simple that works great for trouble shooting 12vdc electrical issues in the coach. I purchased a 12vdc - 12amp battery. the size is 6"x 4" X 4". I made up a wiring harness that is12 gauge wire, 3 feet long with Spade Connectors to attach to the battery and Alligator clips on the other end to trouble shoot with. I can take it right to the source of the problem to trouble shoot a component. To keep the battery fully charged when I am not using the coach and parked in the Barn I keep it hooked up to a Battery Tender. If I have a need to charge it while I am Traveling I connect the battery up to the chassis battery's with the provided Alligator clips to charge it. The Battery is the same style they use in Computer Back Ups for back up power. Works great!!! It's Simple and no fussing with wires or cables.
  9. In almost twenty years that we have been RV'ing this is my first windshield that I had to replace. Because the windshield does not use a rubber seal to hold it in place it takes someone with the expertise and knowledge to replace it. It is a Flush Fit Windshield and is glued in like an automobile windshield. The Newell coach also uses this type of Windshield. The only reason it took so long to get it replaced was due to the fact that Duncan had no records of any Foretrave'ls in their parts list and could not find a replacement windshield with any of their vendors. When I finally convinced them that they would have to go through Foretravel everything went smooth. I was prepared to take the coach to Texas to get the windshield replaced at the factory. Fortunately Foretravel had a service center in Leesburg, Florida that was able to do it. Once they received approval from the insurance company everything moved along quickly. The windshields that are held in with the rubber seal can be replace just about anywhere. Great thing about living in Florida is that there is no deductable on Glass replacement. I was not disappointed about the time it took to get it replaced other than Duncan's insistence that one of their vendor could do it and they all told Duncan they were not equipped or skilled to do it. It is done and I am a happy camper.
  10. You have to understand that when you make a claim for glass or windshield damage with your insurance, all they are required do is to approve and pay for the replacement. The insurance company does not guaranty the installation or warranty the replacement glass. That is the responsibility of the installer and/or the glass company the installer purchased the windshield from. The insurance company will either provide you with a company that can do the installation or allow you to pick a company that you prefer. The insurance company is not responsible for the quality of the work performed nor do they warranty the installation, that is the responsibility of the company that does the installation. If the windshield comes to the installer and is broken, he will have to file a claim with the transport company to get reimbursed for the damage and order another windshield. that is not the responsibility of the insurance company. If the windshield breaks or cracks after installation that falls back on the Installer, not the Insurance company. I can Feel your Pain, but you have to understand how the glass replacement works with your insurance company. I just had to replace the windshield in my Foretravel because of a rock hit. First thing I did was call Foretravel because the windshield in my coach is glued in like your automobile and is not held in with a Rubber Seal, I wanted to find out where I could get the windshield replaced. Foretravel explained that I would have to either bring it to the factory or fortunately they had a service center here in Florida that was certified to do the replacement. I contacted them and he told me to file a claim wish my insurance company and give the insurance company his information and have them contact him. Most insurance company's use a third party to handle glass claims. In my case it was Duncan out of Elkhart, IN.They use Safe-Lite as there preferred installer. Safe Lite Told Duncan that they could not do a windshield replacement on a Foretravel Coach.. After two weeks of trying to find a company that would do the installation they finally called the service center I gave them. It took over three weeks for the insurance company to give the service center approval. The Service Center would not schedule me in for the replacement until they received the windshield and inspected it for any damage. Foretravel manufactures their own windshields at their factory in Texas and as explained to me the windshield would be shipped directly from the factory to him. when he received the windshield undamaged, he scheduled me in for the replacement. He said the replace would take 3-4 days. One day to take the old windshield out. another day to grind out and clean up the windshield frame and the third day to install the new windshield and at least 24 hours for the sealer to cure. The new windshield is installed, on time and the claim is paid.
  11. NO! the moderators will not "BAN" any member who suggests an individual asking for help to read the manual. My biggest pet peeve is the members who come on the group and when they have a problem they post to the group asking for help, when many of the answers they seek are in the operators manual of the Coach or Component they are having an issue with. And NO, there are many members who post who have never opened a manual. I AM ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO WILL ASK A MEMBER ON SOME ISSUES IF THEY HAVE REFERRED TO A MANUAL. We have an abundance of Data, Files, Manuals along with Tips, Parts List and Vendors that every member has access to research a problem they are having before they post their problem. It is amazing to me how many owners of these Class A coaches have never read the Owners Manual that come with the Coach, they do not have any Basic working knowledge of how the Transfer Switch, Inverter, A/C heat pumps, Thermostats, Aqua Hot, Aladdin, Cameras, Slide outs, Leveling or Jacks work. All of the basics for these components are covered in the owners manual and also in the individual operating manuals for each component. This group has some excellent members with much knowledge and experience that are willing to jump in and help out when anyone posts a problem in their expertise. Another issue we have with those seeking help is to have them at least post the year, make and model of coach they own, "THIS IS A REQUIREMENT OF THIS SITE". Also, when posting a problem it would be great if the make and model of the component that is having an issue be included so that a member is being given the correct information. We Moderators are here to help the members with the problems they are having with their coaches, but it will save a lot of time and Bandwidth if members would take it upon themselves to Research the Manuals and other available resources if available first before posting. EMERGENCY'S DO NOT COUNT, GET ON THE FORUM AND ASK FOR HELP, SO WE CAN HELP. And yes, we are a very friendly group and are ready to help anyone who is a member.
  12. I actually believe that this will be good for the RV Industry Both Silverleaf and Winegard are the leaders in electronics and wireless technology in the RV industry. Winegard Company Acquires SilverLeaf Electronics Winegard, a designer and manufacturer of smart wireless solutions, has announced the acquisition of RV systems developer SilverLeaf Electronics. Based in Albany, Ore., SilverLeaf is the RV industry’s go-to engineering firm for all things related to telemetrics and RV-C networking, Winegard said. This includes instrumentation tools, IoT solutions, and engine and system monitoring. According to Winegard, the acquisition will bring some of the best minds working in RV electronics together under one roof with the goal of developing innovative and life-enhancing products for RV enthusiasts. Martin Perlot, founder of SilverLeaf and pioneer in RV-C communications protocol, will stay on as general manager of SilverLeaf and take on the role of Winegard’s VP of Digital Chassis. “This acquisition gives Winegard a strategic advantage as we move toward delivering a seamless and connected smart RV experience,” said Winegard President and COO Grant Whipple. “SilverLeaf has some of the best minds in the business. Many of their products are the industry gold standard. I’m incredibly excited about SilverLeaf’s control and monitoring system, which connects to crucial RV systems such as tank levels, battery management, and power controls. “Pairing this interior experience with a robust network connection provided by Winegard and WiFiRanger hotspots and data plans is exactly what RVers are looking for right now.” Added Martin Perlot, “Merging with Winegard was an easy decision for me, and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s going. I knew Winegard would do right by my team. They’re one of the few family-run businesses still operating in this sphere. They’ve been connectivity leaders for decades, and Grant and I share a vision. “Essentially, this acquisition is about talent cultivation in the search for product and service excellence. It’s also about fostering stronger relationships with our partners across the industry.”
  13. The HWH leveling system is totally independent of the ride height control valves to put the coach in ride height for traveling. The ride height control valves play no part in the auto leveling of the coach. When you put the coach in Auto Level, the ride height control valves are taken out of the system and the coach is leveled by signals from the HWH ECM to the Six Pak Valves that are located in the chassis above each axle. The Six Pak Valves are also taken out of the Loop when your coach is in Travel Mode and only the three ride height control valves control the ride height of the coach. The HWH Auto Leveling System when put into the Manual Mode will allow you to raise or lower the coach up or down a few inches, but as soon as you start moving and exceed 5MPH the coach will automatically revert back to Ride Height and the HWH System. Regardless of what Mode you have the HWH Auto Leveling in, when you release the park brake and put the coach in gear it automatically reverts to ride height, This is the automatic default for the coach. This also takes the HWH System out of the loop. Make sure the ride height is set correctly on the steer axle and the drive axle and that you are using the correct pressure setting on the regulator for the tag axle for the additional weight of the M/C lift. Those M/C Lifts add a lot of weight to the rear axle of the coach because of the moment from the rear axle to the lift. If you have not done so you should have the coach weighed with the motorcycle on the lift and adjust the Tag Axle Pressure accordingly.
  14. The KOA Campground is about five miles from the falls. Nice Campground large sites and great staff
  15. Those parts are called Slide Out Ramps. They are made of a Polypropylene Nylon material. Monaco sold them by the length for the specific coach. If my memory serves me correctly the Ramps were supplied by HWH as apart of the flat floor slide out kit. REV should be able to supply them.
  16. One condition that will prevent you fromgetting the green light and the coach will not go into Travel Mode using the HWH Pad if any one of your leveling jacks has not completely retracted. Have you tried to do a reset of the HWH system. In the front run bay under the drivers side window in the upper right corner of the bay is a red light and reset button for the HWH. Push it to reset the HWH system. It will go into travel mode with or without the parking brake engaged. The coach will automatically default to travel mode when you release the park brake and put the coach in gear if the HWH has failed. On some 05 Execs the slides have to be all the way retracted before it will go into travel mode. I do not believe your coach is equipped with this feature. Try using the Air auto leveling to level the coach and then select travel mode and see if it will go into travel mode then. if not I would take a close look at your hydraulic jack make sure they have retracted all the way up. Look in you wireng diagram/schematic manual and check for any blown fuses. In the FRB there is a 20amp fuse on Circuit Brd 12 marked AIR LVL and on Board 6 is another 15amp fuse marked AIR LVL. There should also be Trouble Shooting suggestions in your Owner/Operators Manual or you can try calling HWH Tech support and see if you can get any help from them.
  17. Patrick You might want to think about converting all your rope lights to LED Strip Lights. A very good source for LED Strip Lights is SuperBrightleds.com I purchased from them when I converted my 05 Exec over to LEDs. Competively priced and very good customer service
  18. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Sandy, Kelsey and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.... It’s been a tough and strange 2020. From Covid-19,Lock-downs, a vicious election and much discontent in Washington, DC. To the individual family struggles we all face, 2020 has been a year of ups, downs and dealing with whatever comes our way and I will be very happy to put this year behind us.. As the year comes to a close let’s all take a moment to try an consider the blessings of 2020 that came in spite of the rough spots. The family and friends around us are the most important of these as they form that support structure we all need from time to time. They also provide some of our greatest joys. Whether it’s friends, parents, siblings, children, grand kids or pets, those bright spots make the year better no matter what the world throws at us. Then there are our co-workers, the job itself and the environment that absorbs much of our waking hours. Those relationships are important, too. Often those places and people see us more than our families do. We are there as part of a team. While tensions are naturally part of that; having a good team around you makes all the difference in the world. In the Bill D's Monacoers Group I have Great Team in Place that make it work and keeps the Group Moving forward. These folks truly deserve an award in Recognition of their Hard Work and Dedication. I especially want to Thank Scotty Hutto, Tom Cherry, Larry Laursen, Frank McElroy, Chris Throgmartin and for all their help and support with helping me in keeping Bill D's, Fred White and Rex Darley's vision alive and well. These Gentlemen have all worked hard in moving the Monacoers Group forward. Sometimes Moderating the Monacoers Group is not an easy task, especially when you only do it occasionally and it feels like a full time job, They make the job much easier. My Greatest Thanks is to all the Members of the Monacoers Group. We could not make it happen without you. You are the reason this Group Exists and I want to say Thanks for all your Contributions, Knowledge that you all share, The Comradely we share and especially all you Support and Loyalty to the Bill D's Monacoers Group. So, as you enter this Christmas weekend and then march toward the New Year, think of those folks around you who make the year a little brighter and better for us all. 19. Monaco and other production coach manufacturers have tried the adjustable shock route. Monaco used the Firestone Version and could never get it to work and removed most of them from the coaches. Spartan and other chassis manufacturers of the higher end coaches use air pressure by transferring air between the airbags in milliseconds to do just about everything that has been discussed on this thread. Spartan developed the Active Air System and it has been very successful for years in the high end coaches and in the past few years has made it into the production coaches. There is also a couple of company's that make take offs of the Spartan Active Air System. Foretravel has used it for several years with great success. Go to the Spartan web site and check it out. I have also found out that the Spartan Active Air can be added to just about any coach as an aftermarket addition.
  20. You can go to the VelVac website and download the manuals which will include a wiring schematic or you can open the Wiring Diagram Manual that came with your coach and find Drawing 38020694. The drawing will be in the Multi Chassis section about ten pages in. You will find all your answers there. Let us know if you can not find it.
  21. The reason so many Velvac mirrors have peeling chrome after only a few years is the PLATING PROCESS Velvac uses. After decades of short-lived chrome plating, they are still plating directly onto aluminum cast/extruded parts without first copper plating. That all but guarantees the underlying aluminum will begin to corrode and the plating begin to peel. Chrome plating aluminum alloy parts without first copper plating is just plain poor quality. Every plating shop knows that skipping copper plating is poor quality. Velvac continues to do it.The reason Velvac and Ramco mirrors start blistering and peeling within a few years is basically the lack of the proper process they use to plate aluminum. Aluminum does not plate well unless copper is used as the primary step before nickel/chrome. Velvac and Ramco do not plate their mirrors. They are sent to Mexico as raw metal and plated there and the is no copper step in their plating process. I own Space Coast Plating, Inc and we do re-chrome The Velvac and Ramco Mirror arms and bases. We have been in business 25 years and we use the Triple plate process, Copper, Nickel and Chrome. We have plated many Velvac Mirrors for many of our members and we are listed in the Vendors forum. Velvac will not sell you the arms or the bases unless you purchase the complete mirror assembly. They will sell you the head and mirrors. We plate the bases for $140.00 each and the arms start at $150.00 each and go up according to length and condition. We also try to keep the mirrors and bases that are already Re-furbished for exchange so your down time is limited. When you send in your parts we will match them up with what we have in stock and will exchange them if we can. You can contact me at 321-254-2880 if you need more information.
  22. You made a very good choice, you will not be disappointed.
  23. You might want to look into the RVi3 brake system before you make your choice. There has been a lot of discussion on the group. I have had the system for almost 8 years. No issues, easy set up and great customer support.
  24. That information will be covered in the Maintenance section in the owners manual for your make, model of coach.
