  1. Was really unhappy with the spring-loaded door struts that came with my coach and changed them all out for the "fancy" combo spring/hinge style that are continually failing. Was at the Fort Myers RV show over the weekend and one of the "for sale" units had what looks like a superior support strut. Does anyone know whether the grey one pictured is spring-loaded or pneumatic? Source? Nothing similar on eBay or Amazon. It looks so much more robust than the OE struts that came with the coach. I kept the old struts and hinges and will reinstall them unless I find something better. Have found 6 1/4" pneumatic struts on Amazon but not sure whether they may be overkill...but perhaps promising. Old style spring tube (removed long ago) and "newer" ones that constantly fail. 2. Need to add to the confusion about the RCA wiring...I've got a small DVD player in a bedroom cabinet that connects to the TV above and it is RCA wiring. Maybe someone got rid of a DVD player and left the wiring behind. Adam
  3. Just noticed something in the basement/laundry area at home...anyone ever tried adapting a washing machine discharge hose? Diameter may need to be adapted but the hose sure is flexible, will handle "gravity" water pressure, readily available and probably reasonably priced. Adam
  4. Elkhart Sales and Service if you're anywhere near Elkhart, IN.
  5. Emailed Colaw on Saturday and they surprised me with a weekend response...requested pictures of the good wheel simulators. Also checked their inventory of wrecks...they have a 2009 Neptune that appears to all the simulators in place. Should be getting some good news from them next week. Adam
  6. Thanks! Will give them a call Monday... Did stumble on JAE Enterprises in Almo, KY and they may have a suitable substitute for those installed by OE by HR/Monaco/Navistar. Adam
  7. I destroyed a rear outer dual wheel, tire and the stainless steel wheel liner/simulator when I clipped a curb during a detour through downtown Joliet. All set with the replacement wheel and tire but Veurinks could not find a replacement simulator. The "on line" sources want to sell a complete set of 2 (or 4). The center axle end/hub cover is fine so just really need the big, dished big part but will consider a "2-piece one side" purchase if available. Wheel is for a 255/70R22.5 tire and is pretty generic according to the Goodyear shop. Any ideas? Adam 2010 Neptune 37PDQ
  8. Great info from jacwjames! Especially since I didn't get the Neptune back today. Fired it up, saw a red warning light, shut-er down and gave them the keys back. Will watch this thread and if I can help sometime next week, will chime in.
  9. Dave, can't help yet but perhaps over the weekend. My coach is getting it's annual inspection/service and I should get it back later today. Will inspect my sliding door, retrieve the spare trolly from my spare parts box and follow up. Thinking the trolly adjusting mechanism may be the problem. Adam
  10. Yup, even have a sticker by the entry door to prove it! Don't think they understood the market and their MaxForce non-def engine was a mini disaster. Adam
  11. Just purchased NAPA 1487...they did the crossover so should be easy to get. Not sure how difficult it is to change, I just provide all filters to my servicing garage so there is no confusion or delays. Adam
  12. Don't be fooled by the advertised fuel tank capacity. My Neptune supposedly has a 75 gallon capacity and I discovered that like a light aircraft, it's the USABLE fuel capacity that matters. On our first post-purchase trip, I ran out at the Flying J pump thinking I had at least 10-15 gallons remaining based on the trip odometer reading since the previous fill. I contacted tech service and asked "what's the usable fuel capacity.". Not a clue. So on the next fill I let the pump auto shut off, used a flashlight to look down the filler neck and continued to add fuel until it rose into the filler neck. An additional 13 gallons! So now whenever I refuel I use my flashlight and visually make sure a full tank is actually full. PITA but now I'm sure that my trip odometer and fuel gage are synched. Adam
  13. Don't forget Monaco went into bankruptcy and Navistar assembled coaches beginning in 2008/2009 from the left over inventory. There are some interesting stories about coaches being delivered with 3 AC units vs 2 in the sales specs, etc. Usually the changes were positive. My coach was assembled in June 2009 and had rear brake chambers with 2005 date codes so you never know what may be in that build generation.
  14. Have been following this thread for a while and time to butt in! The IOTA was installed in my 2010 Neptune and changed out by Navistar as a result of the recall at the Chapter 419 MS with the Southwire unit. The Southwire unit "went south" in 2018 and I replaced it with a Progressive Dynamics 5200 Series PD52. It does not hum and has worked without issue for the past 3 years...I do an annual check of the lugs. The PD unit is a smaller than the Southwire and does not have the "whistles and bells" but didn't need them since I also have the Progressive Industries "hard wired" surge unit. So another transfer switch option...and would be interested to read any comments regarding the PD unit. They are a local company (Marshall, MI) and have a long history of supplying the RV industry with well engineered electronics. Adam
  15. A picture would sure help. I've had a door trolly failure and it was an interesting process to access and replace. Adam
  16. On the shelf at NAPA and the guy who did the repair visually knew the brand and style/model so he did the ordering. Standard med/heavy duty truck part. Adam
  17. Had a a similar problem...turned out to be the brake air chambers. Rubber diaphragms had deteriorated. 2005 date codes inside chambers on a 2010 Neptune assembled in 2009. Parts readily available and not too complex a repair. A rear one was bad, changed out all 4 in the interest of safety and peace of mind. Adam
  18. Had a similar problem with my 2010 Neptune...lots of water at the light fixtures. After several diagnostic trips, they discovered that the plastic "angle iron" looking barrier that is close to the wiper seal and runs the full length of the slide had deteriorated permitting water entry. Replaced the plastic piece with aluminum and have been dry since. Was a frustrating experience! Adam
  19. Mike, had similar problem with my 2010 Neptune. Will take some time to pull the info together so easier to respond via email. Contact me at aghyobo at aol.com. Adam
  20. No one so far has identified their AC brand...wondering if different brands have different ways of feeding the drain lines. My 2010 Neptune has Carrier AC's and not only have I had drain lines plugged but "gunk" blocking the condensation collection tray that feeds the hose. Removed the roof cover shroud and cover over the collection tray. On the Carrier the plastic collection cover has perhaps 5 tabs and one screw holding it in place...that's where the gunk was blocking the internal holes feeding the drain hose. Now consider it a PM item...just not often. But did the front AC 2 days ago since there was water on the side wall. Goes quickly after gaining experience with the first one. Adam
  21. Also had the problem...arm would move slowly then stop. Toggling switch would get it back to parked position. Assuming motor's overload protection would kick in. After changing out the motor and lubing linkage found that the pass side arm shaft was binding. Released some of the tension on circular spring lock and relubed. So far, so good. Adam 2010 Neptune 37PBQ
  22. I worked for Eaton/Dana axle for many years and they offered an extended warranty if synthetic oil was used as well as an extension to the change interval. Based on their engineering tests, synthetic is a much better lube. Adam 2010 Neptune 37PDQ
  23. Had similar issues with the install! Found that with my coach it was easier to take down the valence and install the MCD's then put the entire assembly back up. Two cautions. (1) Make sure you know your front and back clearance to prevent interference with the window latch. (2). Where you have a cabinet above the window, attach the lower side screws of the assembly first and use decorative/same color screws through the exposed front upper lip of the valence into the cabinet bottom. And a drill driver with long extension reduces cramping. Adam 2010 Neptune 37PDQ 2019 Jeep Cherokee
  24. Also considering replacing the 32" Sharp but want to install with a mounting bracket that slides down. Get a neck "crick" when watching from the copilot seat... would like to lower the tv from the current near ceiling location when stopped and watching. Anyone found a vertically sliding mount? Adam 2010 Neptune
  25. The list of HR and Monaco models did not include HR Neptunes. They were bad/suspect, too.
