HR Endeavor 40DST Alternator for 8.9L ISM CM850

Recommended Posts

I just changed the alternator on my 2007 diplomat with a 400ISL. It appeared to be a P/N 8RG2142, it had overspray on it and hard to read. AJ - Electric will know what you need. I just replaced mine with one from them and was working like it should.

It’s a Leece Neville “Sales Number: 110-912”. Not a DUVAC. This is from a 2006 Dip, but my engine is a 2005 ISL400 (8.9L). My dip is the Monaco twin of your Endeavor

PS - for about the price of a rebuild, you can just replace it with a Delco 28Si

Just replaced mine with a Delco/ Remy alternator.

Let me know if you want the part number.

I just replaced mine with a Delco 28SI, it was a 200 AMP with J mount. Battery and ground wiring only.

If you have your old one off and call this place they can make sure you get the right one to convert. https://www.qualitypowerauto.com/

There are a lot of variables so double check. With the 28SI I figure I can now easily walk into any major auto parts store in the US and get a replacement if I need it.

Thanks for everyone's help.  I went to the motorhome and crawled up in to take a picture of the alternator.  d*** its tight with the intake right there...

The build sheet only said it was a 160 amp with no details.

The tag said Leece Neville Model 8RG2112    B    Volts 12   200501  Sales No :  105-360

If anyone has the spefic part number and data for the Delco 28si that would be much appreciated.  Is there any other changes that need to be done to fit it in where the Leece Neville was?  Cable or connector changes?  Pulley?

Can you pass the part number and any information on to me for the Delco 28si.  The Leece Neville is discontinued and no rebuild kits are available.  The Delco looks like to best option...

According to Delco-Remy, they don't make a replacement for your LN model.

Maybe you do have a Duvac alternator.

This is what I find:

https://www.delcoremy.com/find-a-part/product-xref/17/8lha2070ve

The number you gave seems to be the regulator part number, the alternator should have a different number that is how I found this from a different cross reference, please confirm the model number on the side of the alternator, not the regulator number on the end. These are J180 hinge mount, with the 28si specified as "J180 short hinge", I don't remember exactly what the difference between long and short hinge is and which are interchangeable, let me know if you need more clarification after getting the old one out or measuring.  The 28SI all come with remote sense terminal, the 22SI is optional remote sense terminal so be aware of that if you have a duvac system and go with a 22SI.

The pulley will typically have to be swapped to the new alternator.

As far as I understand it, the duvac is a system with a diode isolator between the alternator and the house and chassis batteries, with the remote sense wire hooked to the chassis batteries.  The delco should bolt right in place and function the same with the remote sense terminal hooked up correctly.  The delcos in other applications will function with just the hot and ground hooked up.  But with a diode isolator the remote sense must be hooked up to charge correctly.

The Endeavor does not have a DUVAC alternator.  All coaches below the Windsor and Imperial don't have DUVAC alternators.  The DUVAC alternator was discontinued in 2004 model year on the few coaches that still used it.  The DUVAC was necessary when the Cole-Hersee solid-state dual battery charging system was used.
