  1. Point being your unit runs fine without the giant hole in the floor
  2. Your lucky, I take a trip and poof, a load shows up. I'm in there with the vacuum cleaning it out.
  3. So, I try to keep the inside of my Hydrohot cabinet clean and tidy, I've spent enough time and money in there and now the system works great. Problem is, there is a giant ventilation hole in the bottom of the cabinet to the bottom of the coach. As a result the cabinet constantly gets filled with road grime and if its wet out, wet road grime. Anyone come up with a fix? Maybe a filter element? Or maybe just cover the hole up? I think since there's combustion going on in that compartment, there's probably some reg about ventilation, but, I'm pretty sure its not air tight anyway.
  4. I am new and enjoy this website, it is my "go to" for info about the Beaver. I was surprised to find the section that had all the tech tips. It seemed a bit buried but was right in front of my face the whole time. Good website, nice people!!!
  5. Last big one I did was a 9 hour run from Big Bend up to DFW, I'm not retired so I had to get back. Nice thing is the bus ran like a sewing machine all the way haulin the tow'd. I like the 5-7 hour versions taking my time. You guys are really cool the way you plan out your runs in time and distance, I can picture myself doing that once I retire. Thanks.
  6. Now, I will add Capt JC H****S... Name disguised. There I was, going on a field trip to ELP from DF & W fix to a broke airplane, I think we were going to change an engine driven hydraulic pump on an 80. This was some years ago, I don't go of field trips anymore, it's a young mans game, at least I think it is. In a 767 climbing out of Dallas through the broken clouds on a moon lit night, I'm riding jump seat, it was a magical sight going up through the clouds. Just me, another tech and the 2 pilots. We cruised on over to ELP and there was heavy cover with decision height at 600' agl. That's what our planes were certified for under the LMP program. Anyway, making our approach, we hit DH and nothing in sight, Capt JC H****S powered up and pulled her up and powered on out for a go around and around we went. 2nd approach, here we go, exactly right at DH we pop through the cover and guess what, we're lined up on the taxi way, not an issue for Capt JC H****s, he stands her up on the left wing tip comes over, stands her up on the right wing tip, brings her over, I can see the people in their cars looking out the window at the sight above them, a giant airplane doing precise maneuvers mere feet off the ground. Capt JC H****S centerlined it just like that, smooth as silk landing. There must've been something wrong with the ILS equipment, I never asked. That man earned my respect that day and he was just as nice as could be, a true pilot.
  7. Old And Bold!! Appreciate you Sir.... I flown up front a few times with some super duper pilots that literally blew my socks off. To be respected for skill and no doubt you sound like one of those Mr. Pratt.
  8. All you pilots wouldnt go anywhere without a mechanic. 35+ years AA.. All hail the pilot!!!
  9. The powerpulse looks like a good efficient way to equalize. Since our batteries are in parallel one wire at one end and another at the other. Viola... let it do its thing. Good price too.. Wait a minute, I have 4 6v batteries so I wonder what that hook up would look like?
  10. I have one of those but never knew what it's purpose in life is. Interesting thread guys. Bravo Zulu! 👏
  11. I read somewhere else about a joint called Blackstone Labs.. I don't know about it the lab from experience but I do know the Transynd is $500+ (probably more) so a little $50 test is worth it.
  12. To be clear, the coach cannot be monitored remote. You have to be in bluetooth range.
  13. Update: I emailed the gentlemen mentioned in the Press Release above; Karl Wilson. In the letter I expressed my concerns as to whether the EC-AGS+ would function on my generator 10HDCAA since my gen wasn't listed as compatible. He was extremely responsive and wrote me back that evening. He explained he would find out and let me know. The next morning I awoke and found he had sent an email explaining there may be a couple quirks, but that basic operations should function as advertised. Yesterday morning I went to work. The unit is plug and play. What complicated my install was the generator slide in\out and wire harness routing to verify bundle positioning during movement at either end. Also the mounting of the gateway in a place that would allow the correct bundle positioning. It took me awhile to make that decision. I took the old unit out the EC 30 W which someone had basically tie wrapped in there. I then verified the new AGS would plug right in and it did. I removed plastic wire sheathing from the old harness, cleaned it up and installed on the new. I then began routing the harness following the basic same route back as the old unit, in the image the Y harness connectors are visible next to the generator cabinet. I ended up having to tuck these connectors behind the conduit for clearance on generator slide movement. I attached to the conduit piggy backing all the way back. I searched for the best mount location for the gateway unit and finally settled on the outboard forward side of the passenger frame rail. This location had relatively easy access and good location for harness slack/ movement. I drilled 2 small pilot holes making sure of clearance behind and then 2 larger holes for the mounting hardware and mounted it there. Drilling those frame rails was no easy task, slow and careful all the way. I finally routed power ground, red/black, crimped terminal lugs the correct size for the studs and wire (18g). Carefully attached to the studs, and the unit powered up. I later found out from Karl I should either cap and stow the gray wire or hook it to chassis battery power so the AGS can monitor that as well. Parameters can also be set to power the coach if chassis battery falls out of values, I think.... The AGS powered right up and I downloaded the app from google play store and connected via bluetooth and paired my phone to the gateway, doing some basic set up along the way model ID, log in password. I also paired to the temp sensor to the gateway via the app and I later mounted in the coach near the thermostat. Once I completed basic set up I was literally able to start and stop the generator from my phone while in the manual mode I did this several times being careful about short cycling.. When I paired the temp sensor I could monitor coach temperature from the phone. (EDIT: ALL THIS VIA BLUETOOTH) I labeled this my forward zone and there is capability to add 2 more zones. The AGS has many capabilities while in the auto mode. I ran out of time and light and put the toys away. I left the unit in manual mode so there will be no auto starts while in storage, just yet. I will need to go down through the app while paired to the gateway and set up those parameters.
  14. I re aimed mine using the procedure mentioned above and this caused night driving to be tolerable and not white knucklish. I too, am watching this thread and would like to add good Led lights.
  15. I bought one from Veurinks with the "Flying R" logo.
  16. Good Morning Doc, thanks for the thoughtful input. Interestingly enough my engine isn't a K series or Kubota, but an Isuzu, however, something I seem to remember is seeing a Kabuto data tag or label somewhere on the thing, but I can't find an image. I would've thought if I saw that I would've taken a picture of it, so I cannot be sure of this without going back out to the rig and pulling the covers off to look. Instead all I have is the attached image from Isuzu. Its a 1.5L engine and all I can find on the internet relating to it is a CARB Cert. The fact its an Isuzu engine could quite possibly explain why the AGS+ may not function on my unit. Also, interestingly and confusingly, I don't have a "K" in my model number. I have written an email to Karl Wilson, karl.k.wilson@cummins.com, the man that made the statement here: https://www.cummins.com/news/releases/2021/09/17/cummins-introduces-new-ec-ags-wireless-control-system-onan-generator-sets I gave him the particulars of my install and asked him to help me sort it out with regards to the AGS+. In any case, I still have not opened the box yet, but was holding the box opener in my hand yesterday and decided to wait. I'll see if he writes me back.
  17. I bought it, and its sitting on my desk. My 10kw Onan on a 2003 Beaver is a "Spec A" I called their Tech Support and one guy said it wont work and he didn't seem to be to knowledgeable about any of it. He really didn't even know about the new unit until I told him about it. I didn't return it yet (although I generated the return) just on his word, not wanting to give up, I called another Onan tech guy a couple weeks later (last Tuesday) and he (who also didn't seem to be too knowledgeable) wanted me to call a guy in Indiana because he thought that one might know how to retro fit it. I called and left a message and will try again next week. My model # is a 10HDCAA Spec A which isn't listed on the compatibility chart so I haven't busted the box open and tried it yet. But given the following note on the post you left I'm tempted to bust it open and give it a shot. Please note, the EC-AGS+ pairs with every Onan generator, with the exception of the Onan QD3200. This was the note I found in the install manual: Here's what my Data Tag looks like:
  18. Careful what you say about political climate, some one with the initials Mel will call you out and read the riot act.
  19. Careful with the Cummins wireless system. There's a spec chart so it won't work with early Onan gen sets. I bought it and it's sitting on the desk still. My gen is a Spec A, the first tech guy from Cummins said no workey. I trying to get ahold of another guy up in Indiana that may be able to tell me how to retro fit it.
  20. He didn't like me commenting on our democracy, and the facts. All the goop heads running around so he threw rules at me. Whatever...I ain't woke, I'm just another dip sheet trying to see my way threw all this BS. Btw, prove it!! And, don't forget, the aliens are watching.
  21. Maybe you been hanging around Dealy Plaza waiting for JFK Jr to show up? Probably best to not believe in any conspiracy theory, doesn't matter which side your on..
  22. The fellas not a mod as far as I can see. I guess he didn't like my position on a 2 party system, fair elections and compromise. I guess my position on disagreeing with autocracy wasn't taken very well either. And, apparently me saying anything about looney conspiracy theorist didn't meet with his opinions. Oh well.
  23. This is a good group, I've been enjoying it and have learned lots of useful information here. I don't like talking politics but our basic system of government since the founding is 2 party's. So many these days just want one, and debate has become blood sport for many. I think one party rule or autocracy is the wrong way to go, we HAVE to find ways to compromise and think about what's good for all people, not just those whose party happens to be in power at the time. Yes majority rules and lets put faith back into our voting systems and try to remember the days when all of those people with the looney conspiracy theories were marginalized by the rest of us instead of given mainstream credibility. And that is all I will say about that.
