  1. Ray, First, I’m sad to see you and Tam hanging up the driving gloves and camping chairs…. The two of you, along with Jack and Betty, were a huge force in welcoming Debbie and I to our first Monacoers Gathering back in 2018. We remember that very fondly. I’m a fan of David at RV Appraisals. He does a lot of research monitoring actual sales prices of coaches across the US, and as a bonus, formerly worked at Monaco as VP of Sales. He has a wealth of knowledge, and has provided me a lot of pricing data when looking at Dynastys, Execs, and Sigs (we haven’t found one yet, so we still have the Diplomat). It was $99 well spent. You can reach him through the website at https://rvpricingandappraisals.com/ or email him at David@RvPricingAndAppraisals.com . But my recommendation would be to call him at (530) 208-5750. As far as advertising, of course you can post the coach here for free. It’s a very specific audience, and the price is right. Listing on RVTrader.com will hit a very wide audience. With the pristine condition of your coach, I would suggest trying the free methods (monacoers.org, irv2.com) for a week or two before moving to the paid services, unless you’re in a hurry! All the best, Scotty
  2. I’m glad you’ve been lucky so far but can’t condone anyone advocating not using a toad braking system. My experience is very different. In 2016 in my previous coach (Holiday Rambler Vacationer) I was pulling a toad with a Brake Buddy system that (unknown to me) had failed. An 18 wheeler in front of me locked up his brakes (I never saw why) and I had to come to a full panic stop, and ended up with my toad fishtailing to an almost 90° angle by the time I got stopped. No damage to the coach or toad, but the tow bar was toast. I threw away the Brake Buddy too (it had crapped out and wasn’t worth fixing). Turns out a car had pulled out in front of the 18 wheeler. No one was hurt, but the driver of the 18 wheeler was scared as heck. Unhooked the toad and went on to our destination separately. I too was lucky. But I will NEVER pull a toad again with out a fully functional braking system. I currently use a M&G system. There are lots of really good ones out there other than M&G, but to pull a toad without a brake system is endangering yourself and anyone around you.
  3. I’ve used the TireMinder Smart TPMS (I use a dedicated, previously unused iPad Mini for the monitor) for about 5 years and have been very happy with it. Their tech support is awesome. Very responsive and helped me quickly resolve an issue where I installed the repeater in a poor location. Once my mistake was corrected🤦🏻‍♂️, virtually no false alarms, but it has warned me of a leak, low inflation, and a wheel getting hot on the toad. That said, I don’t have experience with the newer i10 model. Historically, Pressure Pro and TST have been very popular with Monacoers. I have no information on the EEZ, good or bad.
  4. Hubert, Ray Murley @rtmurley has experienced a blowout with Tyron bands. His story is one of the things that prompted me to get them immediately after my first Monacoers Gathering. Here’s a link to his comments… You got a great deal on those bands. Ditto on buying the spider kit. FWIW, I strongly recommend getting a TPMS. Saved my bacon more than once. There’s an entire thread - everyone has different preferences for different reasons (search site for “TPMS”). The main thing is to get one and start using it!
  5. Progressive HW50C hardwired with 2 displays… one in the electric cord bay; one on the information center inside. if I had to buy one today, I would buy the Hughes Power Watchdog with Bluetooth. That would allow me to monitor power to the coach remotely - and get alerts if it loses power - with my RV Whisper system.
  6. Based on years of following this forum, I use the same cocktail as Tom Cherry: Opti-Lube XPF pre-dosed with Biobor JF EVERY time I fuel up. I carry several pre-mixed containers dosed for half-fill ups and “full” fill ups. When I use up the Opti-Lube that I bought before I read the thread below, I’ll switch to Biobor MD + Biobor JF. About twice a year I throw in the Startron Star-Brite diesel treatment instead. Probably overkill and throwing away a little $$, but on the chance there’s a benefit in occasionally doing something a little different, and based on the collective wisdom of this group over many years, I do it… (Variety is the spice of life, right? 🤣) There is another, quite detailed thread on the subject. We have a member (@peakins) who is technical director for Hammonds Fuel Additives (Biobor) and has posted a lot of technical info and documents. If you want answers from someone who lives this every day, read this thread:
  7. Jim, Have you checked to see if there’s a BIOS update available from Dell? (Or did you recently update your BIOS?) That could affect built-in mouse keyboard operation on a laptop. The other thing I would check (mentioned above) is the internal connectors for the mouse and keyboard. Things that would affect mouse and keyboard on a laptop: 1. Windows drivers 2. BIOS 3. Hardware - connectors or mechanical/electrical failure hope that gives you some ideas to check…
  8. I know this says Lippert, but it is the exact same as the paper manual from the Coachstep on my 2006 Diplomat (sans the Lippert title page and back page), which I believe should be the same. (Maybe Lippert bought Coachstep from SCS Frigette?) Anyway, hope this might help. Lippert Coachstep Owners Manual.pdfLippert Coachstep Components.pdf Ok, my memory isn’t that far off…
  9. Had a similar “no hot water” issue about a year ago. IF you don’t have hot water anywhere, it could be the check valve on your water heater. Mine locked up due to corrosion and would not allow any hot water to pass out of the heater. Not an expensive part, but a bit fiddly to replace. On mine I had to cut one of the PEX lines to remove the check valve.
  10. Tyron Bands has long been a supporter of the Monacoers. Many of our members, including our leader, Dave Pratt, and myself have Tyron Bands on our coaches.
  11. One of the most recommended videos on the Bill D's Monacoer's Yahoo Forum...
  12. Jim, Did you ever get the videos working? scotty
  13. Hey Tom And Frank… Why don’t y’all file and ask for payment in the form of wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, videos and other technical documents! or better yet, some of the legacy parts laying in a warehouse somewhere 🤪 I'm sure we could get this fine group to chip in and buy you each Happy Meals (which is likely more than you’ll get from the lawsuit🤣)
  14. I'm still hoping there's an owner of a 2006 Diplomat or HR Endeavor that has found the rascal and can tell me where they hid it...
  15. Ok. Voice of frustration here…. Went to the coach today to get blink codes… from owners manual: I CAN FIND NO SUCH DEVICE IN MY FRONT RUN BAY! Called Bob Nodine (who knows a tremendous amount about 2006 Dips), who said he never found it in his either. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Took covers off everything in the FRB… No joy. Pulled the panel off the driver’s side console and found the Bendix brain…. But still no diagnostic switch or lights. Nothing that looks like the drawing in the owners manual. Looked all up under the dash too. can someone point me in the right direction, or did they just leave this off my coach?
  16. My advice (or opinion, if you prefer) On this matter is different from other posters… A residential fridge is designed to operate - all the time. A fridge that stays closed (regardless of what’s in it) will run the compressor very little, and use little energy, but will run enough to circulate oil and keep the compressor lubricated. A residential fridge that sits and doesn’t operate for months has a much greater chance of failure. Based on US average energy rates, a modern fridge will use about $5/month worth of electricity; less if the door is rarely opened. Also, by not running the fridge you have a higher possibility of introducing mildew or mold in the unit. You can mitigate that potential by keeping the doors open and/or using a desiccant like DampRid, but by running the fridge you virtually eliminate that possibility. This is also dependent on your climate. I’m more likely to have an issue with mold in Georgia than someone in Arizona. My choice is to pay the $5/month… I also keep a few water bottles in there in case I’m at the coach and thirsty 😂 Again, that’s my opinion based on my education and experience, your mileage may vary.
  17. The videos are a standard format: MP4. I tested with a couple of different browsers and they seemed to work ok. Here is an article I’ve used to work through a similar problem. This is for Microsoft Edge, but the overall steps work to troubleshoot video in any browser, although the menu commands will be slightly different. https://www.makeuseof.com/microsoft-edge-not-playing-videos-fixes/ In my case (YMMV), corrupted files in my browser cache were the problem. After clearing the cache and restarting my PC, it worked fine. PS - I never really understood why, but it affected Chrome, Brave, and Edge browsers on my Win10 64 bit Professional based PC. Fixing it in Chrome resolved the issue for all three browsers. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  18. I’ve been working on adding a new feature to the website lately to add video to our repertoire. My “test” case are videos from the discs that came with my coach. For now, it’s in “test” mode, and you can only view and comment on videos. Also, only Members can see the forum. Here is a link to the “test” forum: https://www.monacoers.org/forum/39-videos-test/ My vision is that we create a library of these videos produced by Monaco Coach Corp for as many coaches as possible. Many times the original disks have been lost and subsequent owners never get to see the information on their coach. …to that end, I’d like to ask… if you still have the disc or discs that came with your coach, would you allow me to use them to upload videos to the site? Please private message me if so, and we can make arrangements for me to borrow your disc for a few days. Let me know what you think!
