  1. My 05 Splendide had a auto door lock that would keep the door locked until the total cycle was done. Somehow I bypassed the lock and can open the door anytime. Sure would like to know what you did to disable the lock. That is my biggest annoyance, I have resigned myself to the time element but if you forget to add something as the washer is filling it gets frustrating!
  2. Right now I made “sheep skin seat covers. The leather had started cracking. Since leather and vinyl are my least favorite fabrics for upholstery!! When I need to replace the upholstery, I am going to find a quality grade velour. 2 years ago we purchased a 72: couch from an 1980s Pace Arrow, i think. I reupholstered with marine vinyl that very closely matches the flex steel leather couch but I keep it covered with a sheet bc I hate sticking to it. Also I included another modification Ed made- the electric fireplace complete with marble top. It mounts in the bedroom for travel and we move it to the living room for use
  3. Invaluable information since we have the same coach! Thank you! I am also going to take the recommendation of getting CoachNet. We had GS and had several occasions that we called and were told that a service would be long time coming for service. All times we were able to figure a way out of our problem. NOT IMPRESSED!
  4. The driver mirror became loose for us. We discovered that the bracket that held it had broken on one side. A piece of double sided gorilla tape did the trick. Is still holding about 3 years now.
  5. We are planning to change our Norcold 1200 to a residential refrigerator . I am wondering if it would be a good idea to plug the refrigerator into an appliance 6’ extension cord to be able to unplug it from inside the coach. We just returned from a 4 month tour and 3 days out the Norcold crapped out on us! We bought a dorm sized refrigerator and drilled a hole in the left side “cabinet wall” of the frig to bring the extension inside from the refrigerator area so as to not overload the kitchen circuit. Would it be any advantage to plugging the residential frig into that same extension? Or, after the install of the residential frig, can you access the electric plug without pulling out the frig…or do you need to access the plug???
  6. Like you Dr. we had an issue with the thread degrading. I believe that our slide toppers were replaced sometime before we bought the coach in 2012. While coming east on 40 in TX we caught crosswinds that caught the awnings and caused billowing. After several attempts to secure them, we finally used bungees across the top and hooked on the other side- only 2 drivers sides. With that wind, it caused the seams holding the awning to the cap to pull out. At our next CG we took the long slide topper off and i sewed it right there. The canvas was still strong. We had sewn the bedroom slide at the start of the three month journey for the same reason. We had help with the first, our nephew is more mechanically inclined. But we were on our own with the front slide. Carrying my sewing machine is a priority!
  7. On our 2002 Windsor, we removed the slide locks because the rear- at stove- got stuck while retracting the slide, and as a result it bent and continued to hang up. After removing we drove without anything to secure it UNTIL while going around a corner the top was starting to lean out! Afterwards we put cut to length pieces of 2x4s at each end. We decided to put the front slide lock back on and are now just using the 2x4 at the rear of the slide. Before reinstalling, we took it apart and serviced all of the components inside. I feel much more secure with at least one lock on while traveling.
  8. I does not work consistently without the toad connected.
  9. We installed separate lights for towing in both car and truck we previously pulled. Before when we pulled only the truck, no problem. Now if we pul the truck, same situation, mostly doesn’t blink. Front and right side do blink always when signal is activated
  10. We have had the problem with our right turn signal for the past several years. Occasionally it works on it own. We checked the bulb, it works. We changed the socket, same problem. A mechanic suggested rewiring from the side marker. Since we are not the most mechanically inclined we have not undertaken this task yet. Our work around is to manually push the turn signal up repeatedly when making a right turn. I would also note that the issue started when we wired our car to tow behind the RV. It was wired previously to pull our truck. I have opened the ends on the umbilical cord to check for loose wires and also the connection on RV and car. Everything seems secure. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  11. We always air down before storage bc it will leak unevenly.
  12. This has been a very helpful discussion! Thanks to everyone for your input! This is what makes this site invaluable…even with silly questions, getting others thought and ingenious ideas.
  13. Watching our neighbor air down his Phaeton which took about 30 seconds, it got me thinking if there is something wrong with our system. It takes us about 5 minutes to let the air out of the airbags. Is this normal for our 2002 Windsor to take that long? Thanks in advance.
  14. This thread is just what I needed! I have read all of the threads describing the screw action of the step cover and we do not have that on our 02 Windsor. Our cover has been problematic for a good while. It will come out but will not go back in without pushing it but occasionally it worked just fine. Thank you for the information but can you please direct me to the location of the valve? Sharon
  15. Learned the hard way about the need to set the dip switches, turned on the HP in 30 degree temperature and since the Furnace dip switch was not flipped, we blew the Freon from a relatively new install. Hard lesson learned! Had to replace the AC/HP again!!!
  16. If you have graphics across the slide and they match the body wall, than I would say it isn't misaligned. Strange if it left the factory like that but maybe not. I would not use the graphics to align the slide!! I believe that our RV leaked from the factory- with the graphics aligned. When we replaced the seals we realized that the seals did not even touch. So replacing the seals would not have solved the problem. We realigned the slide in the hole. Now our graphics are off 1/2- 5/8” but we have no leaks!
  17. I was confused, we have a 2002 Windsor PWD and we have a side radiator, so I referred to a pdf I have saved (see below). It say our Windsors have a RM8H chassis as stated. This is the Windsor specs. https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:862c7bae-3432-4db1-ac77-1f20c13248b6 This site is invaluable!
  18. Here is the drivers seat bottom sewn back together with skirt. Even though the sewing is labor intensive wrestling these onto the seat frame is a paaain... When I do tight fitting pieces which I need to stretch down over a wider area, I use a piece of plastic or garbage bag. After fitted into place, I rip or slide it out. sharon f 2002 Monaco Windsor
  19. When our inverter went bad in our 2002 Windsor, we had a beeping at the Trace. We replaced the Xantrex 2012 last year and upgraded to a Xantrex 3012 to handle a larger load- if need, like your domestic refrig.
  20. Thanks to all for info on Tyron. I am very interested in avoiding a catastrophe, so I am going to look into them. On another note, we are looking to replace our drive tires. Anyone have any thoughts on Americus tire brand? They are manufactured in Thailand. They are priced at $365.99 w/free shipping for size 295/80R22.5 .
  21. We replaced the headlight switch in our 2002 Windsor in 2016 for reasons mentioned above and problem solved. Now, 4 years later I think I need to stock another switch. The dash gets very warm in that area since I drive with my headlights on anytime I drive- school bus driver habit!
  22. -- I`ve seen something as simple as a screw being installed a little slanted causing a leak - I learned long ago, that there is no such thing as a perfect Funny you should mention that! We were scratching our heads because we were getting water on top of our slide but had decided that it was from the roof instead of the slide seals but couldn't find the crack or opening. Upon further inspection we realized that there is a screw holding the slide topper in place- put in at an angle and loose and rusted. That was the culprit! Dug the liquid rubber out and replaced the screw and used dicor (hope it works for the long term) Sharon 2002 Windsor
  23. Just a word of caution. We exchanged our AC units and neglected to set the dipswitch for the furnace. When using the furnace in a condition that would require the it to kick on, since we had not flipped the furnace switch, we ended up blowing the freon line and had to replace the unit again!
  24. Jerry, We had a similiar problem last year with our 02 Windsor. We ended up replacing the inverter. Called Xantrex and they walked us through several diagnostic steps with voltmeter to make the determination. We ended up getting a new Xantrex SW3000 to replace our OEM Xantrex 2000. We also needed to purchase the remote for inside and adapter connectors for the telephone wire that connects the two units. Caveat: we had to cut the end off of the existing telephone wire and reverse the plug that goes into the adapter on one end, ( I missed or overlooked that in the instructions). With this new unit we did not buy the extra unit that is daisy chained into the system to autostart the generator when the batteries get low.
