  1. Never used this feature as of yet and I was wondering what parameters I should set to have the geny auto start while driving with my new to me residential fridge. I first checked the basic settings and they were like my book as in Search sense: defeat, auto LBCO: on, Bat Cap: 500amp, Bat type: liquid lead acid, charge rate: 100%, shore power: 30amp, external shunt: none, Fuel gauge cut out : 11.8 vdc That is my first question should I leave that at 11.8 volts? Second question gen start at ? I put in 11.5 VDC is that too high? Third question gen stop? I put 95% SOC thinking that I would charge up higher before it quit and I started drawing off my Batteries again. All this came about because I put in a residential fridge and on my shake down trip only got about 3 hr. before inverter alarm sounded so I just reached down and started the geny. My batteries are getting a little long in the tooth and I will replace them soon but they still hold 12.5 specific gravity when my RC7-GS says there 100% down a little I know but still up there. Which leads me to my fourth question Shouldn't my alternator be able to keep the house batteries up? This new dc inverter fridge use very little ac amps. The highest reading I got was 1.9 amps this of course without defrost or ice cube heaters on. ( this was read on the single wire hot leg at my on / off switch with my clamp meter. I'm not sure what 2 amps 120v ac relates to dc volt / amps being consumed by the inverter maybe that is too much for the alternator. Thanks in advance Roy 2003 Dynasty
  2. I would slowly go over every pc. with the pictures and diagrams on this site something did not get put back in right. Or just happened to break right at this same time. Also adjustments could have been made to take up the slop from not having the bushing in place and now with one in place you need to adjust again. that also could be what broke something if in fact that's what you find. Put a step ladder up to a large unlocked window as you play with this from either side for you escape or entry.
  3. You also have (2) 20 amp fuses in where 10 amp is called for. Also a 5 amp for 3 amp though that is no big deal the 20 amp could be too much for the wire size or what it's protecting. Roy 2003 Dynasty
  4. Do the ends of the grab handle come off the tube? I thought they would pop off mine are very tight and I don't want to break them. I also remember reading here about replacing them or re chroming them. I did a search but couldn't find the discussion. At the very least I'm going to sand the down and paint them for a temporary fix wife cut her finger the other day on the peeling chrome.

    Camping?

For years every summer we would take our 4 granddaughters for a week somewhere in the RV. That movie is one that's in our DVD library and we watched it every time and laughed hard every time as well. Roy 2003 Dynasty
  6. WOW never expected such a response thank you all for your compliments and questions I will do my best to answer in order with some pics. Jim: The old one went out and the new one in through the door I removed both front seats and needed every inch years ago I had replaced tv's and shortened front to back the cabinet so we could walk in without hitting it just ourselves it would not have worked this way with the original tv cabinet. FYI. I didn't and really should have removed the ice maker supply from the back first we got hung up on that had to back out and remove it, also tape your MH door frame edges. And I will try to sell the whole thing before I take it apart or dump it. I will only keep my wood panels for any future projects. Todd & Karen: Yes and all bins come out. Richard: I do have the fridge fixer installed. Ray: First I couldn't hold the fridge up to the top where the old one was the right would not open very far because of the pocket door top rail so I went as low as I could which involved difficult work to cut the main floor behind the wires to move them tighter to the wall to clear the fridge having the new fridge floor another 3" higher would have eliminated that but I wanted it as low as possible. What you think are drawers at the top are fake I used the bottom (old) cross pc. and side pc. magnetic latches and cut one drawer front in half for the top and the other in thirds for the bottom. I have made no electrical changes yet. After my shake down run if all is ok I will pull it back out to add a switch (behind one of the top fake drawers) to turn the unit off and on and add a switch and coupling for winterizing the ice maker. Bob: I seriously thought about the Amish route because my box was in such great shape and I wouldn't loose my junk drawers. Cost was the same. Keith & Suzanne: If the whole thing doesn't go I would gladly give you those thing at the cost of packaging and shipping. Bill: Ditto as above you do realize you need the whole doors for the seals. Dennis: I agree venting isn't necessary but access is. I also sealed my vent holes and cut a pc. of walk mat to help insulate outside wall easily pops right out. When I pull the unit for above mentioned work I bore you with more pics these pictures are small on my desktop but some how come out huge in here. Anyway should also mention for some reason Samsung wheels have no adjustments just screw down pads to keep it in place which you have to remove anyway but the unit does not sit level leans toward the rear thought that a little strange for a counter depth that usually is enclosed on the sides I thought that the reveal looked horrible so I attached a shim to the floor under rear rollers angle Iron under the front keeps it in place. Wood stops on the back wall for depth alignment and stops also at the top front sides wedged tight accessible thru fake drawers to keep any top side to side movement while traveling. 7. First I'd like to say my Norcold never gave me any trouble a few years back like many of you I noticed ice cream not as hard nor the beer not as cold as they should be. A little research and found my thermistor not in spec so when I replaced that and at the same time bought a wireless 2 position thermometer I realized how much outside conditions and running on LP or AC would effect it I learned I had to always adjust the temp to conditions and wa-la ice cream and beer all good. Anyway just as we all do I thought a little preventative measure better than being stuck at a bad time or place since mine is 19 yrs old and most of the time now I'm on shore power I installed a Samsung RF18A5101SG it's nice now they don't have handles sticking out. Going on a shake down run to Lake Kerr in about a week I'll let you know if I messed up. Here's a few pics of before during and after I have the unit sitting in my garage. Kind of seems a shame to send it to the dump if someone needs anything not sure how that would work out I live in South Jersey.
  8. Thanks but no. Never move it until all is good including my walk around inspection and would have seen that at the first stop only about 100' down the lane. Roy 2006 Dynasty
  9. Thanks the weird part is this happened after sitting 8 months and every thing was ice cold and after couple hundred yards it ended and never came back. Roy 2003 Dynasty
  10. Thanks good to know I turned it back to vertical very easily Roy 2003 Dynasty
  11. Last winter my daughter and 2 granddaughters came to see us off and immediately called to say sparks and fire were under the coach. I stopped and found nothing nor smelled nothing. So we started again with them on the phone and it started again as soon as we were moving, again I looked everywhere and especially at moving items like driveshaft, wheels found nothing. So the third time and yet again now I'm frustrated so my granddaughter gets out to go ahead and record it for me this time nothing these three stops and starts take about 4 or 5 hundred yards. Now I'm at a place where I'll be on a main street thru town so they follow in the car and thru the whole town with the stop and starts nothing so on to Fl. we went. When leaving FL. this spring had a friend watch and nothing. Read some stuff here about some chassis failures and things dragging , broken welds, Etc. I got the coach jacked up and have looked everywhere still nothing. Could it have been tag axel brakes stuck for a little bit? when I left it rolled from the get go fine not like a hang up but maybe the tag axel I wouldn't notice. Best I can tell my coach was made in Coburg plant # 10 start date 5/10/02 delivered sometime in July . Of course has the S series 10 bag chassis not sure if this has the problems that were discussed here before. Any thoughts ? Roy 2003 Dynasty
  12. A short while ago I was reading in the digest about our coolant filter and antifreeze and there was something about doing it quick as to the loss of coolant and I thought I've done it twice now and never had any come out. Over the weekend I got my Cummins book out for something else and looked there for coolant recommendations and saw how to change the filter and there is a 1/4 turn stop valve that you rotate from vertical to horizontal . Under I go and sure enough it was there on the horizontal position. I took over doing all that type of service work myself about 20,000 miles ago checked my records and the last shop that did it all was 31,000 miles ago so assuming they did it and not the shop before them I have 31,000 miles with the coolant filter shut off. Last fall before I did the work I got new test strips and my coolant was in range (another thing I learned on this site.) so I continued with the same coolant filter. Anyway I returned it to vertical position started it up and checked for leaks all good there. Anything else I should look for? I hope I got lucky before damage was done it has gone across the country and back like this ran great and no overheating. Roy 2003 Dynasty ISL 400
  13. There is a fix for this you can do yourself Roy 2003 Dynasty
  14. When mine failed I didn't want to take the whole world apart to get to it so I just added a 1/4 turn valve to stop it from dripping out . While at it I added a pressure regulator so need to worry about high pressure from some campgrounds without the flow restrictions most portable ones have. It doesn't protect the hose but does protect the coach. You also could get a double male ended hose adapter with a cap to just stop it until you fix it.
  15. I've had good luck with Marine tex gray seems for me a little thicker so easier to work with and more forgiving on adhesion especially when even though you'll probably drain the pan before repair some oil will still try to seep thru. With either one shine that pan up way past the rusty area and then rough it up for good adhesion and spread over the whole shinny area repaint and you'll probably be fine for a long time at least in that spot.
  16. until

  17. Can't say for certain on yours, but on mine after you unbolt the seat from the floor the seat belt spool is bolted at the bottom of the seat and easy access all the way up to the top where it comes out the top above your shoulder. I can only assume the wide open space is so nothing can interfere with it's operation. I do not know if you can just buy the belt and rewind the spool or if you have to install a whole new assembly it could be a cya from the manufacturer.
  18. If it happens again you've developed a small pin hole in the bladder and need to replace it. Easy to do and get and they're standard for wells in fact Well X Trol tanks are found everywhere . There're numbers on your tank that give you the size I believe when I did mine it was 2 gallon. (101) Roy Mercier 2003 Dynasty
  19. Yes Ivan thank you. I know where my front and rear ac drains and you can't see in the pic but I said in the post it just stops about 3 inches below the ceiling and is wide open which is why at first I thought it was some kind of small vent they cheated with since the refridge vent was right there that's when I followed it the other way and saw it went thru the bottom to outside. Smart on their part to just waste a little flex and be covered if one was to add the ac to just pull the fridge and make a easy connection and not deal with the double floors and elbows and no room to work etc. And thanks again for looking out for me. Roy Mercier 2003 Dynasty
  20. Thanks guys never thought about being pre plumed for 3rd air and about the luan pcs. Now that I know what they were for I feel I should remove them or cut them down so air gets up to the top and out the front above the fridge since it only required 2" in the back 0" on the sides or am I over thinking it. ( I am closing off the rear and roof vent) Roy Mercier 2003 Dynasty
  21. Biting the bullet going residential only because of it's age. Mine has and is working great but showing what looks like surface rust in the rear and thru the things I've heard about I don't want a failure or worst fire. And at 20 yrs old thought the dc conversion wasn't worth it. Anyway after pulling the old unit out I saw two things I'm curious about and thought I'd ask our experts. First I assumed these two horizontal pieces of 1x2 and 1/4" luan and foam are just supports for the wall because of the the wide space then realized they are on the inside of the wall so are they just stops to set the depth the Norcold could be set to? (blue arrows). But the real kicker is the next question I saw a blue water line up the wall and just cut open a few inches from the ceiling thought they must have used it for a vent. Then after I removed the old fridg floor and went under plug the gas line I saw the same water line went thru the bottom of the coach just like the other drains. So I have a piece of pipe open on both ends behind my fridg what for? (orange arrow) Roy Mercier 2003 Dynasty
  22. Wayne My unit was acting up like that and I found the other end of that (phone cable) goes up to the ac first and the couplers on mine were all corroded. After all ends cleaned and new couplers the gremlins stopped. Roy Mercier 2003 Dynasty
  23. I can't wait to meet in person the members of this group. I think it will be better than a backstage pass. Roy Mercier 03 Dynasty
  24. I have the same coach and last year it happened to me turns out the rubber ends on the ride height valve linkage had dry rotted and one in the rear had broke free. I replaced all three linkages and all is fine. As stated here many times BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL always have the coach supported (jacks, ramps, etc.) before anyone goes under there especially when working on the air suspension system.
