  1. If you really need something fairly small and portable rather than the testing tools already mentioned, one of those rechargeable 12v batteries for a cordless tool will work. Something like a DeWalt drill, etc... you just have to fashion some type of connection leads for it. It seems like a lot of those tools are going to much higher voltages now, but should be some 12 volts types still around. Jim
  2. Has been on my list of places to avoid for a while now. I don't think I'd fit in with the enlightened folks out there anyway.
  3. I think that is smart on your part, Bill. I'm not afraid of a project and the cabinets would not be a concern at all to me. I found a local cabinet maker a few years ago that replaced some cabinet faces for me, so while not cheap it is pretty easy to do. Its those "unknown" things that keep you up at night. At $80k it is not a deal. There was one that sold not to long ago that was listed at $89K that I would certainly have looked at but it was in CA... 2000 miles away. My plan is just to keep my eyes open for something that comes on the market that is reasonably close by. Good luck to you in your search.
  4. If this is the one I've seen listed, it has a attractive price on it and I was told it was a repo which is why the prior owner took all the stuff out/off of it. The guy I talked to was so uneducated about RV's that I passed. I asked him for tire codes and he said they have lots of tread left... If I was going to consider it, don't rely on anything the current owners say, do all your own research/inspection and build in a huge fudge factor for an angry repo. He also said there were no service records and I'd assume if you can't make the payments on one.... you can't afford to service it either.
  5. My 95 Dynasty has that integrated blender too, which I've never used. I guess that is a dead giveaway that I'm a beer drinker. Good luck on your search, she looks like a beaut!
  6. Mine has an ball valve on the line coming from the tank. It is just a gravity drain, so not much flushing going on... but it can be drained when you are getting it ready to store for the winter.
  7. The Monaco Dynasty brochures from that era list a 38 with a tag that is actually 39',2". The 40 footer is 41,2. Over the years I've seen a few 38's listed, but they are pretty rare. Again, I'm curious if there just weren't that many of them made, so of course the supply is going to be limited.
  8. So, I'm looking for a new to me Monaco/HR to replace my 95 model Dynasty. I've narrowed my search to model years 2004 to 2007 with a non-DEF engine, tag axle and would like to find one in the 38 foot range. Looking for Dynasty, Executive, Signature, Navigator or Imperial. At least two slides in the front and ok with one or two rear slides. When I look at the web page listings it seems that there are a lot more 42 plus coaches available. I realize I've boxed myself into a fairly narrow range which I guess represents my ideal coach. I'm curious if anyone knows how many coaches were produced in each year, length and trim level? I'm sure there were production numbers available at some point. If it turns out that the 38 foot versions were just not popular or produced in limited numbers, it would be a very good indicator to "settle" for something other than my ideal coach. I definitely don't want a 45 foot coach and many of the 42 versions are actually over 43 feet. I'm not in a huge hurry and can wait for the right coach to come a long, but who knows how many great condition coaches I could pass on, waiting for the "ideal" and non-existent coach to materialize? Any help would be appreciated. Jim
  9. Wow that is a lot of batteries!!! I get 5 years out of my chassis battery. I always keep a trickle charger/conditioner on it when its parked. Sorry, no idea what is causing the short life on yours. I'm starting to regret responding to this post, because I have a feeling I'm going to go out and find my chassis battery needs replacing. LOL.
  10. I have had the problem in the past and rigged up a pump and a house water filter to cycle the fuel through in order to clean the tank and fuel. I got the pump from harbor freight and the filter from home depot. I just used some old garden hose and clamps to hook it all together. The filters came in a 6 pack and by the time I got to the 6th one the fuel was pretty clean. It can be a messy process especially when changing out the filters, but it worked. I replace the fuel filters often and use a fuel additive in every tank. I'll add some more if it sits for a month. I also carry extra fuel filters whenever I travel. Biodiesel is awful for an application like an RV that is not driven everyday. Jim
  11. I used the Dicor products on my roof this summer and it turned out great. The application of the paint is the easy part... you just roll it on and let it dry for about 3 hours then apply another coat. timing is key as its not supposed to get wet, even with dew. The hard part is the prep. I cleaned the roof, removed old sealants, etc. then sanded with two different grits of sandpaper, then washed with the special Dicor product. Taping up the entire coach and enclosing with plastic is important as the Dicor wash will mess with your paint and other surfaces. I would not say its an easy job at all. If not for being couped up in the house due to Covid I most likely would have hired it done. I'm getting a bit to old to be climbing a ladder and working on a slippery roof. Again, the finished product looks good, but its not a quick or easy job.
  12. The DEF issue is why I picked that range of model years.... there are lots of 07s with 2006 engines out there. I have a diesel audi that uses DEF... my first and last experience with that!
  13. Like most of you that have one... I'm looking for my last RV. Frankly, I would not really even consider upgrading if the old 95 had a slide out in it. Its a 34 footer and really just not enough room to spend a month or two in comfortably. I've got a fairly specific coach in mind as to length, year, etc.... so my plan has been to just keep an eye out and be ready to pull the trigger when the right one at the right price comes on the market.... but again I just wonder what pricing could look like a year from now once the effects of a changing administration begin to take effect.
  14. Hey everyone, Let me start by saying that I absolutely am not looking for a political discussion. However, the political wind is changing and I'm curious how and/or if you think it will impact RV values. In particular, the ideas of reducing/eliminating the internal combustion engine, fuel prices and the overall health of the economy. I'm only a couple years from retirement and currently have a 95 Dynasty, but have been thinking of upgrading to a new to me 04-07 Monaco. I have the luxury of time at this point and I'm curious what you think will happen to RV values over the next 2 years? Break out your crystal balls. Jim
  15. mine is an older coach... 1995, but I second the alternator check.
  16. This really is the best discussion board I've seen. Thanks to you and all the unnamed behind the scene people. Jim
  17. that is a nice pay day... however I do suspect quality will go the way of the Monaco brand after its assets were acquired.
  18. I've had trouble finding a replacement ladder at any cost. My advice would be if it fits, pay the shipping!
  19. I am just beginning the search process for the next Monaco and found one online that was about 100 miles away. I was willing to take a drive and go see it, but it had a very high selling price... I mean $75k over what book value would put it in the ballpark. It was listed by POP's RV which come to find out is a broker. They replied to my email with wanting to know what my offer was? I guess I'm old school, but I don't make an offer on something I've only seen pictures of and to someone I have no idea who they are... Anyway, we went back and forth for a while and the guy finally said that the owner is upside down and owes to much. Anyway, I was just curious about what others thought about this "brokerage" idea. He wanted me to make an offer, but it was subject to my inspection and of course they promised that I would get my 10% deposit back if I changed my mind. I have seen lots of ads on a couple different websites with many of them being from various brokerage organizations. I have not sold an RV yet, but for the life of me.... why would you bind yourself to one of these outfits? Do you get tons of crank or non-qualified buyers pestering you? Does anyone know how long their brokerage contracts last? Thanks in advance.
  20. Please let me know what you find out on this. My 95 Dynasty has similar issues... dash lights work, but not the dash fans, sometimes the cruise control. I've always assumed it is a ground or relay somewhere and just have not taken the time to go through them all.
  21. I have not heard that Roadmaster and Freightliner were a partnership... possibly after Monaco went belly up? A good shop is very difficult to find. Good luck in your search.
  22. Wow... sounds like all that might have taken you a couple hours to do. LOL. Thanks for sharing. Something I will try to avoid.
  23. I am also replacing my clearance lights on a 95 Dynasty. The lower ones are pretty easy. Two wires to connect and you are done. The upper ones however have two white and two red and it looks like the old fixture was grounded with the screw to the frame. Anyone have any insight into how to wire the upper ones? I've tried and I'm not getting any light but it does show about 9 volts when I put a tester on it. I think the upper ones have a flash switch that you can use to signal when you pass someone? Any ideas would be appreciated. Jim
  24. looks like someone was a little hung over one morning when they were installing frame bolts. I would sure like to hear more about this. Seems like a straight stretch of road... Wind?
