  1. I replaced the unit on the front. There is nothing really difficult except they are pretty heavy and I'd recommend having someone help you get the new unit up there. I managed with a rope and protection on the side of the coach, but it was not fun at all. Its been several years, but I seem to remember one of the bolts broke when I was removing the old unit, of course it had been there for 20 years. Also, the wiring can be a problem. My front AC thermostat also was the control for the furnace and was not compatible. My solution was to install separate thermostats instead of a combination.
  2. Oh my, That is a nightmare. Good luck on your repairs!!! I have never heard of frame issues like that... will follow this thread for other comments. Jim
  3. That was what I was going to suggest. Sometimes the front key switch goes bad and you can start it from the rear. Glad he got it going. It is not a good feeling to be stranded on the side of the road 500 miles from home.
  4. And yes, if you replace, go with a pure sine wave inverter. Electric blankets are not all that expensive, but computers, etc are... The PSW type are not really much more expensive. The difficult part for me was that the inverter was stuck back in a storage bay that you could only reach while laying on your side deep in one of the basement pass throughs. That inverter is fairly heavy and difficult to lift and position while contorted like that... especially for an old fat man like me.
  5. many of the Monaco coaches have an after market fuel filter set up on them. One that primes the air and/or water out of the system. Its a really nice addition, but it can cause the standard Cummins filter in the literature to be different from what is in the Monaco manual. That may be what is going on with the different filters??? As far as micron size, I'd go with what Cummins recommended.
  6. Dang Tony, That is a fancy looking latch. Mine are much simpler and basic looking.
  7. Like the others have said... undo the latches and make sure you are pulling up on the part that actually moves. On mine there is a storage compartment in front that does not come up. It might help having someone lift on each side, but mine opens from just one side. Take a picture if you don't figure it out.
  8. He is certainly pulling some weight with a trailer, SUV and a golf cart.
  9. I found it quicker than I thought I would. Was originally a Winn Fuel System but was bought by Racor. I've got a phone number for them but it may be an old number. 800-344-3286
  10. Rob, I've got something similar on mine although it is much older. I think I have the info in my owners manual box. I'll see what I can find, but you might look there in your box...assuming you have it... for info on it. Jim
  11. Charles, frankly the electrical on these things has baffled me and I've never really understood much of it. That picture looks just like mine, so I don't really know if its a transfer switch, box or a relay. HaHa. Also, I think the inverter I put in says its got a transfer switch too. All I know is when I plug things in... they work.
  12. I found one of these at an RV junkyard and replaced it. Of course, it was less than a week and the other side broke. Now I need another one. Moral of the story... if you find a source, buy two.
  13. Mine may be different than yours. I've got one transfer box in the back and another down by the Inverter.
  14. All the people that were down in the bottom section were woken up and moved in the middle of the night. I'm sure there were lots of RVs stuck. I had to have a large tractor drag me out.
  15. Good luck and happy motoring. Sometimes even bad weather and difficulties can be fun. Just returned from a 5 day boondock at Bristol with pretty much constant rain, flooding and high winds. Had a blast and ended up watching the NASCAR race on TV at home because it was delayed.
  16. Hey Charles, I used an Aim pure sine wave 2000 watt inverter when I replaced my Heart Freedom 2000. All the transfer switches, etc worked just like before the switch. Battery performance seems to be much better. Just got back from a 4 day boon dock and only ran the gen to charge about 6 hours per day. Jim
  17. So, I have a 95 model Dynasty that the ABS light is staying on... I don't think I have a button anywhere like is described above, but will double check. Anyone have any ideas about a ABS light of this era? Thanks,
  18. Same as most everyone else. My Interstate chassis battery was put in service Feb 2012. I do keep a trickle charger/conditioner on it when I'm not camping. I'm getting ready for a short trip up to Bristol for some dirt racing and I've noticed it might be fading a bit. If it was more than a hour drive I'd replace it now, but I'm going to try and see if it just needs some time with the engine running to charge it up fully.
  19. I put one on many years ago. At least I think that is what you mean. It is a propane hook up so I can run a propane grill, smoker and/or patio heater off the coaches large propane tank? It works great and very nice to have. Just be prepared to spend a small fortune on hoses and tees if you run something like I do. After a couple years the hoses start to wear and need to be replaced. Also, be careful when you screw the fittings on as it is pretty easy to cross thread.
  20. I can testify to the algae being a pain.
  21. I've seen some people do some pretty amazing plastic repairs. I'd question the need for a replacement unless the tank has a hole the size of a basketball.
  22. Hey, I'm going to piggy back onto this post. I also need a fridge part. I have a dometic RM7030 which is a side by side and I need the door latches. This is on a 95 model so Dometic and all the parts/salvage places don't have them. If by some miracle someone has one or knows of a place that does, please let me know. Thanks, Jim
  23. I have had some similar issues as this, but there are a lot of years in age between our coaches. My issue was someone mistakenly flipping the battery cut off switch by the front door. Also had issues with the solenoid that that switch controls. Obviously, try the simple things first.
