  1. So i just compleated a 5500 mile trip in october an never once did any areation give me trouble on the main engine ( thats fass doin its job) but like i said below 1/2 tank while driving the genny is out, so i have been trying to find a air seperator for its fuel system. This season im planning on replacing all the fuel line on the genny anyway so if there is such a device i thought do it all at one time. Reason for the fuel line replace is its hard as a rock.
  2. Hey Jim so i mounted my vent line like yours, with mine i used a brass “T” fitting with mine the return comes in at the right angle, then on the top i reinstalled the roll over valve. It all works awsome, however i have found if im running the genny at around 1/2 tank the fuel aerates enough causing it to surge then shut down. So i can see the importance of a stand tube. As a workaround if i have to run the genny i just dont let the tank get that low
  3. So when i did all my cooling system repairs, i also performed all the upgrades. My reasoning was my coach is a rear radiator style and access is limited. I had chose to replace mine and i went back with cummins, when it came in it looked majorly different than the old one. When i asked i was told it was that the original had been upgraded several times. Its hard choosing run it or replace it sometimes, guess my thoughts are would i want to have to do that on a trip somewhere, my answer generally answers itself.
  4. I understand your problem my bypass valve decided to start leaking, due to the lack of room AND having to cut the red pex to remove the valve i had to remove the entire unit. Turn off your gas bleed the pressure off by turning on the stove till it goes out, unplug the electric an the water line going in an out. Seperate the caulking outside, remove the screws, then start working it out. I learned a lesson about removing the pex, when cutting off the ring, then be carefull not to nick the barbs on the fitting. Also nowhere were there tools to rent or borrow to replace the pex ring, however i did find the tool for sale at Lowes, AND next to it was the ring remover🤦‍♂️ that oddly enough works awsome. If i were to make a suggestion, while in there replace that valve at the same time,( the valve is a bit pricey, found mine in a old rv repair shop, no price tag still in a sealed bag, they gave up looking for a price sold it to me for $30.00, damm near broke sweat running to the car😳😂) put it all back in, recaulk, water lines, electric an move on. I found the one pex fitting at a local plumbing supply, oh an let me say i ended up doing this 2 days before a planned trip
  5. Hello Mike, so in answer to your vacume cleaner draw, yes depending on the mfg. i am surprised just how much they do draw. Couple months ago a customer of our wanted to outfit there work van to run there vacumes when there on the job site, i thought… NP! Well i was wrong an infact recommended a generator instead. There vacumes are commercial style and the current they consume is amazing, originally i tried a 2K watt inverter and it went to immediate overload alert, i then used a 3k inverter however even though it got it running the draw from the battery was crazy. I believe it will depend on the type of vacume you are using will depend on current draw. I purchased a ninja type vacume for my rig an its ok, however if i use the wifes Kirby its a different story.
  6. If your going to turn your rig over to a consighment lot i would concider installing a GPS locator, givin the amount of rv thefts, or if its reloacated elsewhere. There relitivly inexpensive, i just heard of a company wheresafe. com
  7. Being a mechanici know driveshafts dont just fail without notice. For me… if i had been taking my rig to be “serviced” an they didnt spot that the u-joint was having a issue (there BIG joints an put up with alot before they fail compleatly) i would be looking for compensation, cause for what $$$ is paid for services performed a huge part of that should be a good PM inspection, it makes me wonder if they missed that part of the inspection then what else has gone unnoticed! Also you might want to examine what pieces thats left to see if there has been any recient grease on or around the area, cell phone pics help, ( a usuall inspection of a dry joint is rust from the cups that leaves a tell tail sign of impending failure) One more thing is usually due to the torque an HP of our engines coupled with going out of balance prior to “take off”, there is always a broken yolk, of which can be a issue, either on transmission and or rear differential which means the cost of this repair is about to get real!!! Then for many of us who do our own maintaince then this should be a lesson to many of us to step up our PM game an give both u-joints a good hard look an a shake when were under there.
  8. I gave up on the bubble a long time ago, as the only part of the coach i wanted level was the fridge. So i used to use a small 3in level an when i got to where i wanted to be i opened the freezer, turn it front to back then Left to Right. Last year for a black friday gift to myself i bought a level pro plus, now i pull in turn the unit on, open the app on my phone an adjust level from the driver seat… DONE!
  9. I thought of going the smart tv route up front, however due to not having a wifi system (mainily cause im only in the rig paart time) i figure its not worth laying out the $$$ im going to try the Apple tv route so that i can upload movies an play them when im bored. As for the crank up antenna, during covid i repaired an resealed it so that it moves smoothly an i am very surprised how many stations it is able to pull in, granted many of them are in a language other than my own, and not many deal with local issues, but it is noise that helps distract when you need it. I bought a dish dome thinking it would bring in some channels, however evertime i want to set it up there always seems to be a tree in its path🤦‍♂️
  10. Normally i thought all pressure gauges were of the design of a air line connected to it, however reciently i had my butt handed to me working on a 2000 Winibago that used a module back by the engine that had the air lines from each air tank connected to it, then from there wiring transmitted that information thru wiring to the gauges🤦‍♂️ not only were both gauges erratic but it also controlls the warning bell and the idiot lights for severl other reasons, oil press, trans temp, park brake on all of which makes diagnosis a challange. Once i decided to replace said module it resolved all the issues
  11. I would do some investigation, i use a inline amp meter thats part of my multi meter an verify that is correct, though its true that the clock on the microwave will keep the inverter “awake” you inverter manual should say what the draw will generally be. And on the 12 volt side being the propane / Co2 there will be generly a 1/4 amp draw for them. When tracking parasitic draws i like to find just to what amount im dealing with AND most important that when the battery switch is in the off position that ALL draw is turned off. I have some coaches new an not so new where good intentions be what they may have had devices connected to the wrong side of the battery switch that have had constant current drain while vehice is in storage mode. When boonedocking being aware of your amp draw is very important, and with 1 amp constant draw can be a issue unless you had solar or use the genny to recharge. Most of my off shore power battery mangement is determined by use of the genny at night when using microwave / convection oven then in the morning coffee and let it run to replace what i used during the night.
  12. So wheni did my manifold i soaked them down the day before, one half tri-flo the other was a new product out here “kroil” using a wratchet nieter one moved, used my 3/8 impact they All came out, the hardest part was reinstalling the bolts for the turbo drain. Worked out ok, no more exhaust noises… we cept for the flow thru muffler, the engine breaths sooooo much better
  13. Normally i wash mine when it get dirty, however lately i have been using Maguires wax and shine in between washes. The part that mostly gets dirty is from the beltline down, and using the Maguires works great while enjoying a beer at camp. That said just before my trip out east i paid $18. Per ft for a wash and a compleat wax. The detailer first tried a wax, with the painted area it worked great, yet he spent several hrs trying to use it on the gel coat and failed, it looked like💩, so he resecheduled the next sunday an he an two helpers came back on there own dime and redid the entire coach using a marine polish, best $ i ever spent.
  14. Well everyone its well into fall, my trips for the year are done, what a great season of tramping across the country, there wasnt a whole lot of scheduled trips, but it was a great season runnin my rig. There were a couple 300 milers goin to nevada, 1 for family in that i spent a week with my older sister, and her daughters family, got locked out of the rv cause of the front door latch assy $@#! the bed, and had to tear it appart an make a bushing using some copper tubing sis had laying around. From there drove to Oregon to see a buddie that finally retired. I just want to say that was the worst hangover in a Looooong time🤪😎 Then out to a local campground for fising, cooking, hanging with a very good friend, not much fishin, but had a lot of great conversations, an cooked several great meals. Another adventure wife an i took our desert racer to the desert an ran it for a short bit🛻👍(thats another toy thats hard to not want to do more with) After that, months later took that same retired buddie to South Carolina to volunteer at the Albino Skunk music festivul🤪where my friend got a glimpse of what retired life has to offer. Into this afternoon cleaning, winterizing, then puttin all the stuff back in the rig so it can be stored for the oncoming winter😥… My bride an i have plans already to go to palm springs in january to follow a friend who is playing in a pickle ball tournament? Hope your starting your 2024 plans now, an getting ready for a new year of fun an travel, for me im doing my maintaince now, so it will be a turn key oppertunity for the next page of getting away.😎😎😎
  15. I remember reading these people are a good source of information an may help for parts
  16. Mornin, so i been doing some thinking with what your saying… in that i often find myself going to Nevada to visit family or to take our can am out in the desert for a weekend of fun, and for the most part i top off each way before we leave one way or the other. The last trip there i figured when i was in Ca to save some $$ rather than pay the crazy amount for fuel that i could save some cash by doin the deed in Nv. I dont really pay attention to the mpg as to its all just part of the experiance, however the last visit to see family my nephew told me of the station he uses in Carson City, so i went there an filled up i was below 1/2. I kind of thought i was out of touch a little however as i was leaving the Carson valley it felt like the engine was running different, then over the sierras, same thing. When we got home i noticed i had used alot less fuel than my normal amount when i would return. Normally its somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2, this time it was like i only use 1/8. I shrugged it off thinking these fuel gauges can be “erratic” at times an this may be one of those times, so the next use was when i left for my SC trip, getting ready to leave it was in the same place so i did not top off leaving Ca. (The main reason was cost of fuel out here☹️) Once over the sierras i filled up in fernely nv as the gauge was still over 1/2 tank full??? I thought my gauge was having a real issue, cause now thats two crossings over the sierras an one of those ways im fully loaded an towing. It took only 49 gallons an after that fill up the sound an throttle responce went back to what i always remembered, then looking at the graph you can see the mpg did a steady climb untill i fueled in fernley. So what ever that fuel was, i can say my rig not only performed better, but it responded to it even more. So all that said, i guess what i am saying is performance “can” be different than what we normally know based off of the quality of fuel, i know after writting that how of course it can be effected with gas engines, i just didnt think that it could be that much more for our DP’s. Well have a good Thursday✌️
  17. Hey Kent, so just where was that fuse box located? I had a customer come in with same issue and i could not find the fuse box, so i had to build a entire system to function the fan, it works like factory however i had to charge to build it. Often due to customers “stuff” i cant justify diggin thru everything to locate mis located fuse boxes. Glad you located it👍
  18. Hello and good morning everyone, so last week i concluded my trip from Ca to Sc, what a great time. There were a few things i learned though, Not all truckers deserve the handle of “Knights of the road”, Nashville is NOT a sleepy quiet Country town, and fuel millage is all about 1 or 2 fill ups☹️ My trip from coast to coast was 5503 miles as per my GPS, which incudes my mistaken an lost event in St.Louis🤦‍♂️, like others before me i saw double didget mpg, then other times thinking as i was refueling it felt like i had just done this a few miles back. I had written down every fill up an recorded all my fill ups using my fuel mpg app. I primarily used Loves truck stops as my main source, with exception of Buckys for a fun stop with GREAT sandwhiches! All that said i learned alot about driving my 2003 HR Endeavor that has the Banks stinger kit, climbing hills i watched my EGT, climb to 1200 degrees and within seconds an no change to the throttle it would INSTANTLY drop to a hair over 1100degrees an stay there with no apparent loss of power. The pic shows a 3 month graph which i used cause to pick the one month would exclude too much info, my leave date was Sept 17th. Like was said earlier when filling the tank if i was or was not on a flat pad once the nozzel clicked off i would fether the nozzel an get another 8 to 10 gallons, also i used Diesel kleen exclusivly, not only for the mpg but it helps with reduced mirror shake when ideling, cold starts, AND improved exhaust smell. The entire fuel cost were just a few dollors over $3k, i was towing a dollie with a 1/2 ton pu, with a cruise setting of 65mph with exception of Ca which then was reduced to 59mph😜… Knock on wood the rig ran flawless an with exception of a certain amout of death defing drivers that thought there 💩 dont stink i got there an back with no major issues. Oops meant to say Ca to Sc and back
  19. Hello Kent, so to be clear your condencer fan is to run anytime the ac compressor is engauged, that would be in a setting in anything other that “vent, or floor or off” if you have the mode switch in the off position an the fan still runs go back at the engine with it running an look to see if it is engauged. If it is not then i had run into a few that because no one could find the fuse that controls it, it had a wire connected to it to run with the key on power. If the compressor is running with the mode switch in the off position due to the amount of amps required to run both the compressor AND the fan you may have a relay that went rogue an stuck in the run position.
  20. Hey Loel, sounds like a ground problem, grounds drop out an all of a sudden everything goe wonky… If nothing else thats a great starting point
  21. The Air Drier has power to the internal Tstat in that its used for a heater element, when it sences freezing temps it turns on to eliminate freezing. My coach had no system in the back for key on power or fused battery power. To be sure it a “busy” electrical closet however in the top right is the 6 gang fuse box… half is battery power, the other half is key on power. I needed power taps for several different options, “TPMS transponder, trailer tow charge wire,FASS pump, it just made sence to have a fuse box that accommodated my needs…
  22. Hey Bob good morning, so the last pic shows i had cut the wire leading to the lift pump, an the sacraficial relay that is only there to fool the ECM. Ok so if i remember right the fass uses a power relay within the harness ( i do a lot of custom automotive wiring an frankley cant remember) anyway due to the power requirements coming off from the key on power from the circuit of the air drier, i used a automotive relay connected that uses that key on power as the signil wire to operate the relay coil. From there the other side of the relay (connector 30 and 83) supply 12 volt power to the pump using the 10 amp fuse required by fass. The only other thing i did was to install a momitary switch that is right next to my fass pump so that when i replace the filters i can operate the switch for priming which eliminates a second person leaving the key in the on position. I build circuits like that due to needing a switching circuit an not wanting to (over load) the system im scabbing the signil from (ECM)
  23. So like it was said, you do not need the check valve, as for the harness it does not connect to the ECM, if your tying the signil wire of the FASS to the old lift pump, thats not how it is to be wired. I know the circuit to the old lift pump is not seeing a load it will illuminate the check eng light. So for that old circuit i wired in a “go nowhere do nothing” relay to fool the ECM. i wired the activator fass pump relay to the air drier circuit so when the key is on the pump just runs and yes it is a tight fit from the fitting to the filter can, if its too tight then i suggest adding a extension for more clearence. I can honestly say the FASS on my coach has transformed my performance of my rig, two things come to mind, the smooth idel which allows me the ability to use my side mirrors at idle now, the second is how easy it starts. the only thing extra i have done was to add a fuel pressure gauge so i can tell what pressure is doing as filters start to have issues.
  24. Hey Karl, so i dont have your style jacks mine are HWH LEVELERS, however one day my panel did the same thing, so i found my hydrolic pump and there was a 6wire plug connection that looked a little iffy so i unplugged it and wire brushed the exposed terminils then reconnected it👍 they have been good eversince
  25. Hey FYI be sure to buy extra wheel sensors for toad. I put them on my dolly and the rear wheels of tow vehicle. Thats when you really need that transponder or amplifier
