  2. How did you determine your belt tensioner was bad? Is there a set number of miles put on an engine that requires it to be replaced?
  3. I found the stock headlights were a joke. I don’t drive at night, but I wanted good headlights just in case. I replaced mine with a high quality headlight that not only puts out a lot light, but made my coach look more modern.
  4. Thanks for posting that. You wouldn’t readily notice 1/16. I’ll be checking mine, though I haven’t noticed much wind noise up front. However, my hearing isn’t the best.
  5. I seem to recall Speedco no longer services motorhomes.
  6. That’s exactly what happened to me. While on the interstate in a light rain, my passenger side wiper fell off the windshield. I thought it landed on the pavement but when I stopped several miles down the road, it was hanging by the rubber windshield washer hose. That cheap pot metal bracket broke in half.
  7. Hi Granville, sorry I can’t help with your issue, but could you please tell me the lengths of the 3” steel pipes? Do you raise the coach to maximum height then measure the distance next to the air bags where you can insert the pipes?
  8. I really like the look of that thermostat. I have the old style five button Duo Therm CCC operating my three AC units and the Aquahot. I’ve heard it’s not as easy as plug and play with the new thermostat. Does anyone know if it can be set up to easily replace my existing thermostat?
  9. I agree Chris. There are a lot of good deals out there. One just has to be patient and research a lot of different sources. Many owners are asking unrealistic prices for their coaches, and I suspect they aren’t selling them.
  10. Thank you. I’d hoped someone with knowledge would post. I’ll do exactly as you advise.
  11. I thought I would do it myself, but I’m no electrician. Running romex wire from mid-ship to my electrical panel above driver’s seat, could be a difficult job. I’m not sure how that could be accomplished.
  12. My Squire has a void under the TV in the living room, that could hold a fireplace. Monaco may have offered a fireplace on my model, but I’m not aware of it. The wife would love one, as we always had one in the S&B. I see online several units designed for RVs. I’d like to install one, but am concerned about electrical usage. The ones I’ve seen claim they use 15amps. This seems a bit low, but I’m no expert. Do I need to be careful what circuit I wire it to, as I don’t want to overload it? This one looks nice. https://www.recpro.com/appliances/fireplaces/26-electric-rv-fireplace-curved-glass/
  13. Just saw this on FB. My coach is the same year and almost identical build but I paid $30k less for mine 2.5 years ago, but mine did have about 10k fewer miles. Beautiful coach and wish the seller the best. 2008 Beaver Patriot with 31,000 miles. Asking $178,000
  14. It seems asking prices of DPs has gone up. I researched the market hard back in 2017 and bought in early 2018. I now regularly see DPs like mine that are older and with more miles, asking more than what I paid 2.5 years ago. As Chris stated, these asking prices aren’t realistic. At any rate, I don’t intend to sell any time soon. So, I know my coach won’t be worth much when and if we sell it years from now.
  15. How long does the Sanicon impeller generally last? I replaced mine a year ago. The one I removed had no fins left on it. I was surprised how quickly my tanks emptied, after installing a new impeller.
  16. I’ve spent many hours working on those steps. First, the motor failed to retract the step. I could hear it running, but step didn’t move. I removed the motor and opened it up. As you say, the plastic gear had broken into many pieces. Ordered a new one from Amazon for $88. Installed it and all was well for awhile. It then suddenly failed to work altogether. No noise no movement. I checked for power to module and it was good. No power was coming out of the module however. I checked the new motor by running wires from my toad battery, and it worked perfectly. So, it’s the module. I pulled it and open it up. The circuit board was damaged. Checking the solder lines on the board for continuity, I found several not working. (Why did Monaco place this electrical component unprotected from the elements?). Bought new module on eBay for way less than new and installed it. Sadly, this still did not correct the problem. After more hours of diagnosis, I found one of the magnetic door switches was bad. Bought new ones and installed and finally all is working. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O9W90U6/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I plan to move the module to the fire wall in the generator bay, to keep it out of the elements.
  17. You might check your slide roller, for the cause of the scratches on the slide bottom. The round rubber tube recessed into the roller on one of my bedroom slides, had managed to come half way out of the roller. This caused the metal roller to make direct contact with the slide bottom, scratching it and cracking the white plastic slide bottom cover. I haven’t figured out yet how to fix this. It’s a very tight space. I guess I’m going to have to slightly jack up the slide, so I can remove the old rubber on the roller and replace it.
  18. My bedroom AC unit was acting up recently. It would initially put out cold air, but after a few minutes the air turned lukewarm. The DW was not pleased and as she has tended to do, demanded I take the coach to a repair shop. Well, I’m not doing that. I noticed no condensation dripping from the outside AC drain line. It must be blocked. I snaked the drain line under the coach without success. Then I opened the inside vent and could visibly see the plastic drain line. I squeezed it all along it’s length by hand, while the unit was running. I could see mold was inside the drain line. Very shortly thereafter, water was draining on the ground from the outside drain line. Easy fix. Later I removed all three AC shrouds and poured a mixture of bleach and water into all the drains. Then ran the ACs to drain it out. All seems good now
  19. I was under the impression the S chassis didn’t require modifications to prevent wandering. I haven’t noticed wandering with my coach. I’ve owned it 2.5 years and put 23k miles in it. I don’t believe any mods were made before I purchased it.
  20. Thanks to this forum a member saw the OP and was kind enough to sell me two KIB panels he happened to have. Perfect match.
  21. Interesting video on the history of two of the greatest motorhomes ever built. I didn’t know the guys who started Monaco, CC, and Safari all worked together at Caribou. https://youtu.be/E2sXoX-BLNY
  22. Thanks. I had hopes the newer models were more energy efficient than my 13 year old units.
