  1. I agree this is not a very good design but easily solved if you have air leveling. I’ve put 160 gallons in my 150 gallon tank by leaning the MH… works better filling on driver’s side as the tank’s air vent is on that side. I do not do this if stopping for the night close by, except in the winter. Unlike my Dynasty, I had problems with the small nozzles I usually use coming out of our Navigator’s tank. Adding a saw blade to the bottom of the fuel door solved the problem, NO, I don’t stand there as I do a walk around temping tires, brakes, and wheel bearings plus cleaning windows while fueling. https://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/fuel-spill-when-filling-422869.html
  2. No “connection“ between water pump light and the generator.
  3. Where do you think the electricity to charge the batteries in a EV comes from??? Mainly from a 50% efficient fossil fuel power plant… you can forget solar as most are charged at night. Take another 15% off for the inefficiency of electric motors (better than any other motor) puts a EV at 35% total efficiency making it less efficient than a modern Diesel engine. I think it’s amazing that our 40,000 lb, aerodynamic bricks, can get 7 mpg. I would hope a 4000 lb aerodynamic car would get 70 mpg but it hasn’t happened yet with a gas engine.
  4. Unless you do more dry camping than FHU, spending serious money on solar is probably a mistake. Based on usually being the only big rig dry camping, we are the exception. Yes, 150W of solar to keep your batteries charged in storage is worth the investment. I DIYed 1000W of solar for $1200 knowing I’d not live long enough to reach a payback because of our usage. Only half timers and only 2 months of dry camping during the summer where shade is more important than being in the sun. I also built 600AH of Lithium batteries this year for $2/AH which I thought was pretty good considering B Born was getting $8/AH. Recently bough some more cells that brings the price down to $1/AH assuming they eventually arrive from China. That makes them cheaper than AGM with 3X the life. Like so many “new” things, the longer you wait, the better the price. If you are a FHU to FHU camper having 300+ Watts of solar is not necessary nor cost effective. The same is true of 300+ AH of batteries… not needed. Would be interesting to see how many dry campers we have on here??? Not sure how you’d do a poll on here?
  5. The smart wheel is a multiplex system… only 2 wires from the steering wheel. Since other functions work, it’s not a bad clock spring. I would run a fused 12V to the solenoid assuming you are getting a signal to the solenoid, if you cannot find a blown fuse. Hopefully someone who has been down this road will chime in to its location. The more I learn about a system the better off I’ll be SO, I looked into the troubleshooting gide I posted above and found the following: HORN TEST - Connect the low current test light between a +12Vdc source and J2.1 (Horn output) on the Master. Press the HORN bar on the Steering Wheel and the test light should light. If it doesn't, the Horn output on the Master is damaged (replace the Master).
  6. Using the troubleshooting guide below, 2 people can diagnose the various functions. https://www.rvtechlibrary.com/electronics/SmartWheelTroubleshooting.pdf
  7. Whoopee, BC has a population of 5 million and yes, most of their power comes from hydro created before the environmentalists stopped the creation of any more lakes. Where is NYC’s 8 million going to get their power from? China is currently building coal fired plants while we are either shutting them down or converting them to natural gas.
  8. The cost of the huge cranes necessary to build and service a windmill was left off plus some articles say one will never generate enough power to equal the power used to create the materials that go into its construction. Without government assistance (money) none would be built as the private sector has to make a profit to stay in business. So, I have a couple questions: 1) how many inches have the oceans risen in the last 15,000 years? 2) What percent of the increase was in the last 5000 years? Hint… 33% would be the average. 3) Why is 1700–2000 used as the temperature range to justify global warming? 1) 4,000+ inches 2) 50 inches or 1.2%. 3) 1700 is an unusual cold period at the height of the little Ice Age. It was almost as warm 1000 years ago as it is today. And to stir the pot some more… based on past earth’s temperature cycles, we are coming to the end of a unusually warm period. Also, one large volcano eruption may cancel in a week, all CO2 reductions we’ve accomplished in a year.
  9. With the bike on I would not increase the tag’s pressure so the drive supports most of the extra weight.
  10. I’ll admit I’m not into annual much of anything except our annual doctor’s checkup. Our 600 A Hot has 2 electric elements so the diesel burner doesn’t get used much and even the previous single element one didn’t get a annual PM. Yes, if the diesel boiler gets 100 hours/year of use then the annual PM is probably a good idea IF it has a diesel smell after several minutes. All of them have a smell when first fired up. Even the recommended of starting the diesel boiler briefly ever month is probably overkill with ULSD fuel but it can’t hurt.
  11. Well written and thought out…Thanks for posting. I would add that you need to give back as we have lived in the BEST of times. I hope our grandchildren will be able to say the same. Not sure I like the saying “If you don’t go 1st class, your children will”. We are blessed that our 3 children live within 4 miles of us and doubt they will ever move away which makes it easier for us to Snowbird in SE Florida. Recently bought a new PU to pull the new Cat skid steer as you can’t take it with you. Just hope the computers these new things have don’t give problems. While many would consider a 10 year old (now 13) Navigator as “squandering the kids’ inheritance”, it’s not compared to a new 45’ DP. Thanksgiving is a reminder of how lucky we are to live in the USA. We’ve traveled enough to know the majority of the world is not as lucky as we are. Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
  12. Glad it’s working but not starting on diesel but then after using the electric element it does, doesn’t add up. A Aqua Hot doesn’t need shore power to run on diesel as everything needed is 12V. Yes, the electric element is 110-120V which lets you get a fair amount of hot water when on shore power…enough heat to keep things from freezing when in storage as long as the power doesn’t go out on Woodstock.
  13. No air flow means the blower motor/fuel pump is not turning… hopefully not getting power. Multiple faults can cause no power to the motor. Not familiar with a 2500 and what fault lights it might have to help troubleshoot. Downloading the troubleshooting guide is your best bet.
  14. Do you still have an absorption refrigerator? The 120 V heaters in them are known to start to fail and trip the GFI‘s. By switching to gas you take the heaters off-line and if your problem goes away, you’ve found your problem.
  15. Sitting for a couple months does not hurt the fuel filter or the nozzle, you have some other problem. do you get a good flow of air out of the exhaust when you turn the unit on?
  16. Haven’t driven at night yet with the LEDs I replaced. The light source was close to the same as the bulbs I replaced. I did it more to reduce the amps so the J12 plug on the VIP controller doesn’t burn up.
  17. I’ll “almost” guarantee “Dike Stop Leak” will fix it…BEST stop leak I’ve ever used. Had similar issue on a Cat 3406… lots of things in the way. That was 20 years ago and it still doesn’t leak. Recently my brother had a leak on a one year old turbo with the stupid hot water controlled VGT…stopped it too. https://www.amazon.com/Dike-Radiator-Stop-Leak-Pint/dp/B07PWHJQZL/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=BWYLIVLFL3N5&keywords=dike+stop+leak&qid=1638021792&qsid=146-4576598-2844959&sprefix=dike+%2Caps%2C271&sr=8-5&sres=B002HIB3GI%2CB00TO60CMW%2CB07PWHJQZL%2CB001QT9KO6%2CB0869GRFC7%2CB000OAEN7C%2CB00754T6TK%2CB076ZP45Z5%2CB000BRQ0TW%2CB002PX91OG%2CB0086H95X2%2CB000931OEO%2CB00D46NSTM%2CB00QYZIVA6
  18. If you think you saw miore GA State Patrol on Wednesday, you’re right as 90% of the force was on duty before the holiday. One stopped to see if he could help. I had already headed to town for parts and he stayed until we got back on the road. Doubt it made any difference that our daughter had taught his daughter in the local school. It’s a job I don’t envy, especially in today’s environment.
  19. Headed south yesterday… got 10 miles and large cloud of white mist out the back…antifreeze everywhere. Friend saw us on the side of the road and called our son-in-law so didn’t have to remove the toad to go get parts. Took several times of having the DW starting the engine while I watched underneath to finally find the leak. Fortunately just a heater hose and $4 in parts (plex splice and 2 clamps) plus 8 gallons of antifreeze and back on the road…hadn’t planned on changing the antifreeze as it had tested good. The 1” section I replaced had a thin area running long ways, but not from having been rubbing on anything…we’ll supported and zip tied against another heater hose. Probably a defect from day one. I did a thorough inspection of the various hoses in the engine area when I bought the rig 3 years ago without finding anything that concerned me.
  20. Two problems…400 volts and fire prone LiMn2O4/LiNiO2 chemistry. 400V can be solved by enough panels in series but then shading becomes a issue.
  21. He has a Cat engine… no lift pump and notorious for letting air into the fuel system when changing filters, even when pre filled with fuel letting the engine run for awhile and then shutting down. The priming pump knob must be turned CCW to unlock but now you have air in the injector lines. I would loosen the 6 lines at the injectors and crank for 2 one minute times, letting the starter cool for 5 minutes between. Tighten the lines back up and she should start.
  22. Undate: the BMSs arrived in 2 weeks (air freight) but no telling when the cells will arrive because of the current shipping backup. Sale starting on the 25th has 8 320AH cells for $328. For those wanting grade A cells, 4 200AH are the same price.
