  1. As John said take it to a good BIG RV or truck shop familiar with the RVs n Roadmaster Chassis n have it looked at for worn steering components and an aligned as needed. Also check the road heights which you might be able to do if you are a DIY person and adjust as needed this will affect handing not necessarily sloppy/worn steering components.
  2. That may be because their focus on sustainability and non polution. I lived in so by the beach for over 25 adult years. When I moved there in 1972 I used to scuba dive off Palos Verdes n up n down the cost you could not see your hand in in front of you mask. Due to efforts my many and against big business. Within 10 years the waters along vastly improved along with the health of the marine environment. It all begins with us!
  3. RUN RUN RUN who knows what's wrong with systems, engine, drive, train, coach leaks etc just the engine could be $30,000 to have replaced, generator $10,000 - RUN!!!
  4. Response to: question #1 - a new or or new core in your aluminum Radiator will cost you about $2700 - $3300 keep in mind shipping costs unless one of the big suppliers are near you. Q #2 not sure on your 8.3, as mine is a 300 HP 5.9 Cummins, but it took me 2 hrs. to remove and about same to reinstall. I am 72 so I had help lifting it out n back in only. Had to disconnect and remove trans cooler, un mount Power steering filter can and move to side, Charge Air Cooler is on top so just supported it with tie wire. had to cut off air filter minder bracket so radiator would lift UP and out. As for hoses - got some from NAPA and other places as one had a some bends but the ID was different on each end. The 1 1/4 inch one from the recovery tank to the engine was about 40 inches long with sweeping bends so a hose with a internal spiral wire/ coolant hose was necessary got one made by RUBICO they make hoses for the marine industry I used their Blue strip hose (NOT red stripe as that's for fuel and will leak after a year). All the remaining engine coolant system hoses that go around the engine (about 8 of them) I got from Cummins. Also while your at it change out the thermostat, engine coolant fan & A/C compressor belts, the hoses on the charge Air cooler. Inspect the metal coolant pipes also for any exterior rust or wear spots at clamps. Think FUN!!! ooler I
  5. John, that's always the issue with RVs n things. As you can see looking at any one post, there are lots of opinions, guesses, and way off the charts ways to repair somthing and many, many.. levels of workmanship by owners and even certified repair presons/shops. As with anything be educated in it: Buyer Beware !
  6. Awesome job!!! Exterior looks better then some of the $700,000 coaches, great new modern look. John, can you post the solar system up grades and install info pics etc. when you have time.
  7. This will help you and others about which coach's and years were the issue: Go to Brett Wolfe's post on the FMCA forum Posted October 14, 2009 "To bring everyone up to speed on this, here is my post on this SAFETY RECALL over on the FMCA Forum-- Class A: http://community.fmca.com/index.php?showtopic=569

  9. Larry call Tom at Masseys he referred me to a shop, in I think Mesa, that does the shocks and alignments.
  10. Old used ones will still crack so don't waste your time on a used poly tank
  11. about $500 from Source Engineering in Oregon 541-343-0295 Jim@sourcerv.com 3- they have the Aluminum tank Tip: don't waste your time trying to patch the poly tank it just will crack in another place loose your fluid overheat and have a $20,000 + engine repair
  12. If you can afford a used $80,000 plus used vehicle the cost of fuel is insignificant to the daily cost of and RV parks in a few years. As for value I feel tafter this recent surge in I gotta have one, I gotta get away you may see prices stabilize lower.
  13. Follow the center tail light wiring on my 04 Cayman it goes to the Left taillight the wiring issue its most likely a connector around there check grounds at tail lights too.
  14. Agree that is how my O4 Cayman is wired one plug works off inverter the other off shore power
  15. As Ivan said. Its my understanding Roadmaster chassis used standard parts from different truck/ parts manufacture's, best to pull the wheel if PN or mfg. name is not visible from back side. you never know what a PO did so parts may be different from build. you may just be able remove them and have them rebuilt at a good big Truck shop that rebuilds them.
  16. Typically the blower will turn on sail switch se the airflow turns on igniter and gas. if after 3 try's it will shut off so the blower should shut off also. try turning it off and waiting several minutes and re start. might be control board as the blower should shut off until you restart it with the thermostat furnace on switch and the temp selection. try moving temp selection
  17. I have had my rear main seal replaced on my 2004 Cayman w/ISL 300HP Cummins with 91,000 miles. I resisted and cleaned an fought it engine leak even installed a tube and drip bottle at bottom of bell housing to collect oil just a waste of energy ! and what a mess a small amount of diesel oil can do radiator, air cooler, chassis, TOOD, concrete eveywhere we went … I was in San Antonio visiting and finally had enough. Cummins wanted about $2300 to replace I called around a lot and took it to an Big truck center over 20 bays. It was Alamo City Truck Service, 210-225-5507 down the street from the AT & T Center in SE san Antonio. They did it for $1,200 incl tax and 1 year warranty They have a smaller division that worked on RVs, Buses etc. the only issues was they ( Even how big a service center they were) had to borrow a “Special tool” from Cummings, just down the street, to install the rear main seal, after 2 unsuccessful attempts to do it the “normal way”. Note that the cam shaft also has a rear seal in the bell housing area that could also be the source of the leak . They did a great job! and 12,000 miles later still not a drop. SO GLAD I bite the bullet never have to get under there an clean the MESS up. and no adding oil.
  18. Stan sometimes it's an issue with the coach frame n some need added support so check other Monaco sites like Monaco owners on Facebook and irv.com for any issues with you make n model coach. Could also be the sequence you use when putting out slides. Review the sequence in your owners manual. I know that on mine ,04 cayman, it's not the same procedure as other RVs, It says to shut engine off bleed down air/ lower coach air bags. Then extend the 2 slides , lower all Jack's ( I have 3) until they just touch the ground then lower front jack, to use a pivot, then both rears. This is so you do not twist the frame as the windshield can crack.
  19. Call Chris w RV Glass he is mobile great guy.sometimes runs a little behind schedule but very good 480 241-9013 He did mine thru my insurance he uses USA made Glass from Custom Glass Solutions out of Ohio 614-9871660 ask for Star
  20. If there is one pin hole from interior or exterior corrosion they may be more that may show up after the patch or over time. Plus the tanks wall thickness may also be compromised I would remove it n have it sandblasted inside n outside then visual inspect n pressure tested n repaired or just have it relpaced. I would not buy used and inherit someone else's issue.. just my thoughts
  21. Steve contact Active Radiator they have multiple locations yhey manufacture and distribute for the truckers Big trucks n Motorhomes and can also install a new core onto your aluminium radiator with a 1 yr warranty. Check site for nearest location and call them did mine 2 months ago I did the R&R they do not do the R&R WWW.activeradiator.com
  22. I Installed the additional brake peddle light switch kit on the TOOD with a corresponding indicator light at the coach dash. This will allow you to actually know that the brake peddle has released and returned to the up position.
